They have called up to 15 times in one day, usually every 15-30 minutes early in the morning (before 8am), and then again dinner time or even later (even as late as 8:40 pm, on my business line, never leave messages, and do this despite having long been on the Do-Not-Call Registry, call blocking them, and anonymous call rejection: I no sooner block one repeat 800 #, than another immediately begins calling (I think this number is about the 10th in the procession).
I rely on the CID list (which only holds 50 numbers at a time) to capture patient and other caller contact information for my database. Though I have anonymous call rejection and I've blocked their calls through my answering device (which at least prevents wasting valuable minutes engaging it), they just switch to a new number, AND CONTINUE REPEAT, FREQUENT CALL/HANG UPS, up to 10/day!
This seemingly endless stream of Spam-Telemarketing calls, quickly fills my CID list, and rapidly displaces the prior and valid caller entries from the list; this forces my secretary and me to waste precious time attending to this issue several times per day, deleting their entries almost as soon as they come in. The is impractical, let alone nearly impossible, and we frequently are unable to capture the valid numbers we need,
Everyone loses. From my perspective as a doctor, the consequences of inefficient, ineffective use of time, anyone's time, are obvious; the more my time and attention is drawn toward dealing with plumbing matters, the less I can focus and attend to patient care. I lose revenue by missed callers and wasted time (it's no more cost effective than my trying to unclog a blocked sewer pipe by myself instead of calling a plumber). My patients lose in the long run; delays in attending to all sorts of issues result, and I only have so much time to give: time they might otherwise had focused on them, is lost dealing with plumbing.
And this is just one example- this particular phone number-telemarketer is not the only one clogging my system at the moment, and I am not alone. Spam and telemarketing effects millions of people, and I cannot think of one milligram of positivity or helpfulness this brings to our society and the world at large. We need to relieve ourselves of this muck which is clogging all of our lives- either pass legislation which puts an end to this, or develop an 'Etheric or Electric Draino' for internet and phone.
