Arian Foster doesn’t plan on heart procedure anytime soon
Houston Chronicle - about 4 years
An irregular heartbeat forced Arian Foster out of the Dec. 23 game against the Minnesota Vikings. (Nick de la Torre/Chronicle) NEW ORLEANS – Texans running back Arian Foster said he has no problem with his heart and has no plans to have a procedure. Foster and general manager Rick Smith denied that the Pro Bowl running back will undergo a heart procedure, which the NFL Network reported on Thursday. “Thank you for all the concern,” Foster said during an appearance on Radio Row at the Super Bowl. “As of now, I have no complications with my blood pumper. I have not, nor do I plan, anytime in the near future to have conversations with my doctors about any surgery.” The NFL Network’s Alex Flanagan reported on Thursday that Foster told her he will “likely undergo” a heart ablation. He’s had an irregular heartbeat since he was a child. It can cause him to have a shortness of breath. “There was a casual conversation with a reporter about my particular condition that turned public, ...

Larry Atkins: It's Time to Have Female Play-By-Play Announcers for NFL Games
Huffington Post - over 4 years
As the NFL season approaches, many fans will have questions about things like injuries, rookie contributions, and roster cuts. However, one question remains unanswered about the NFL and its media coverage. Why are there no female play-by-play announcers for NFL games? At this point, there are no female play-by-play announcers for NFL games. Women tend to be relegated to doing sideline reporting and to the studio. There are only a handful of female play-by-play announcers or expert commentators for any male professional or college sport. It's one of the few remaining glass ceilings to be cracked in journalism, sports and society. I can understand why a woman wouldn't make a good expert color commentator for NFL games. There has never been a female player in the NFL, and it's not likely to happen anytime soon. Maybe a few years down the road, there might be a female kicker who would be good enough to kick in the NFL. The best color commentators are those who ha ...

Westford Youth Lacrosse Game Recaps From 4/27, 4/28 and 4/29
Westford Patch - almost 5 years
Boys Lacrosse   Boys U11   U-11 Grey 11 Chemlsford 9 Westford Grey took on rival Chelmsford on a large field and used the new field size to demonstrate their individual and  team skills. Goalies Matt Wasylyshyn and Cole Barisano saw more shots than any previous game and did a fantastic job of holding off a very strong team.  The Grey put on a passing clinic as they started plays from their defense end all the way to the offensive end.    Chelmsford struck early but Westford came back quickly as Matt Acabbo struck  with the first Westford Goal, which were on top of his two assists on the day.  Matt Sepe put in his second of three goals, as he took a feed from the outside wing from Cole Barisano.   Jake Gross won a face off, found Matt Acabbo, who sent it back to Jake, who rifled the ball into the back of the net.  Kyle Doherty was next to strike as he took a great sharp pass from Steven Donovan, who worked hard on the ground balls all day.   Alex Oakleaf was tenacious o ...
