Lauren Graham Explains Why No One Hates The 'Gilmore Girls' Revival
Huffington Post - 6 months
Since Netflix announced it’d be reviving “Gilmore Girls” with nearly all the original cast, something odd happened on the internet: The only sounds from the haters’ section were crickets.
Lauren Graham, aka Lorelai Gilmore, acknowledged the peculiar lack of backlash over “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
“It doesn’t feel like a money grab,” she said of the “sneakily feminist” show’s revival, which comprises four episodes set to debut on Netflix Nov. 25.
“There were perfectly reasonable artistic reasons to return: Our creator didn’t finish it. This is an auteur’s project; it’s not just something that someone else can easily take over,” Graham added. “Gilmore Girls” creator Amy Sherman-Palladino left the show after its sixth season; it ran for a seventh, but fans were none too happy with that, and the series ended thereafter. The Netflix revival, however, is Sherman-Palladino’s work.
