Dabangg 2
Bollywood Hungama - over 4 years
EXPECTATIONS Really, one doesn't have to think much before setting any expectations from the music of Dabangg 2. You know the genre it would belong to, the audience it would target, the winning formula it would try to replicate and the element of fun that would be at the core of it all. Just like one associates certain kind of music coming from the house of Bhatts, even Salman Khan and Sajid-Wajid combination carries its unique identity as well. As long as one gets that, rest assured the strong fan-base of Salman, which is especially strong in the interiors, is expected to be content. With Dabangg 2 aiming at that very segment, you are pretty much sure about the brief that Arbaaz Khan must have given to Sajid-Wajid and lyricists Sameer, Jalees Sherwani, Ashraf Ali and Irfan Kamal. MUSIC One can see that there is an obvious attempt by the makers to replicate musical situations from Dabangg as-is in the film's sequel as well. They don't even attempt to conceal this endeavour and t ...

Subhash K Jha speaks about Heroine
Bollywood Hungama - over 4 years
Somewhere deep within the corroding flamboyance of filmdom, there is a tale of heartbreaking compromises and immorality tucked away from the naked tearless eye. Madhur Bhandarkar nearly gets to the nerve centre of that world, and then pulls back just before he's really gotten to the centre. Heroine is an intriguingly unfinished film. It's partly done in the rapid-fire mood of a gameshow and partly like an elegiac melody played gently on an antique piano with immaculate fingers. It lacks a centre, sometimes even a focus as it tries to cram in too many incidents, episodes, scandals, controversies and plain absurdities that are an integral part of Bollywood, so much so that the first hour or so gets suffocatingly airtight. And then you realize towards the end, that the world of the superstar Mahi Arora traps the star, makes her a puppet of success, traps her in a web of deceit and finally throws her into a whirlwind of vaporous deceptions. The closing moments have that gut-wrenchi ...

Khan films worth INR5 billion to hit screens
The Express Tribune Blogs - over 4 years
Bollywood’s three Khans — Shah Rukh, Aamir and Salman — are all coming out with their much-awaited flicks within a gap of six weeks this year. Trade pundits predict that their outings combined will make the industry richer by INR5 billion in one-and-a-half months. Each film has a budget of over INR500 million alone. While the SRK-Anushka-Katrina starrer Jab Tak Hai Jaan, which is releasing on November 13, is Yash Chopra’s direction; Aamir’s Talaash is hitting the screens on November 30 and is his first movie as an actor after Dhobi Ghat (2010). Salman’s Dabangg 2 is releasing on December 21 and is a sequel to the movie that was a game changer in terms of both business and plot setting. “These movies will earn at least INR5 billion, and that only in India. They are big movies, both in terms of their magnanimity and business,” says trade guru Joginder Tuteja. “These three movies have no competition at the box office. They have a run of at least tw ...

Salman gets ready for action
Bollywood Hungama - over 4 years
Ek Tha Tiger has almost ended its run and Salman Khan is back to the grind. With the euphoria around the film settling down, Salman would now be kick-starting a grueling month long schedule that would see him getting into hardcore action, Dabangg ishtyle! "Ek Tha Tiger was more about car chases, explosions and some hi-tech action. However, Dabangg 2 is more raw and rustic. Arbaaz Khan and his team have devised the kind of 'desi' action that Salman's fans like and that would require a lot of physical exertion for 'bhai'", informs our highly placed source from the film's unit. It is a known fact that even though Abhinav Kashyap was the director of Dabangg, it was Arbaaz Khan who wanted action to have certain look and feel to it and got it all changed to suit the film's requirement. Now that he is driving the entire sequel as the director, he is totally in charge and has kept aside as good as 20-25 days just for filming the action sequences. "Both brothers are on the same page h ...

'Celebrity kids have an edge over others'
The Express Tribune Blogs - over 4 years
MUMBAI: Actor-filmmaker Arbaaz Khan admits that star kids have an edge over outsiders as they are aware of the way the industry functions. “Many people come from outside in the film industry. They grow up in the film family so they know how things work and what they have to do,” Arbaaz said at the premiere of the movie Challo Driver here. But Arbaaz feels that the industry is opening up to fresh talent and appreciates the trend. “A lot of people want to be actors, directors, technicians and this industry welcomes them with opens arms,” he added. Salman And Arbaaz Khan Accompany Unit Members to Hospital!
Bollypatrika - over 4 years
Mumbai: Even as Salman Khan and actor-producer brother Arbaaz Khan rushed unit members of Dabangg 2 to Lilavati Hospital after a blast at Mehboob Studio in Bandra, the studio tried to conceal the facts. When this reporter called the studio, a lady telephone-operator feigned ignorance of the accident saying, “Nothing of that sort has happened,” before hanging up the phone. Further calls to the studio were ignored. According to reports, three unit-members were injured in the blast which occurred due to an electric short-circuit on the sets of Dabangg 2. Salman is said to have ensured that his unit-members were taken care of, as he accompanied them to Lilavati Hospital along with his brother Arbaaz. “Salman Khan is safe. Salman and Akshay dont take their stardom too seriously - Sonakshi
Bollywood Hungama - almost 5 years
With five releases this year, Sonakshi Sinha, who debuted with the super-hit Dabangg, is in an enviable space. Now that the first look of Rowdy Rathore is out, Sonakshi Sinha's coy glances and sexy back in a backless choli are grabbing eyeballs. Like they did at the time of Dabangg almost two years ago. Trade analyst Komal Nahta says that she's looking good in the promos and her expressions are very catchy. "She's definitely here to stay," he says. Her co-star Akshay Kumar calls her a puri bhartiya naari, while actor-turned director, Arbaaz Khan who has started filming Dabangg 2, describes her as a 'natural' actress who needs no prodding when performing. We are on the sets of Dabangg 2 and she's sitting in her vanity van while her hairdresser arranges her long plait. The bright yellow saree, flowers in her hair, a long plait -- the look in the sequel is similar to the one she sported in Dabangg. Except, like she laughs, she lives in a bigger city, and gets to wear better sarees ...

Sonakshi clears air about rift with Salman Khan
Central Chronicle - almost 5 years
Daughter of Shatrughan Sinha, Sonakshi made a splash in Bollywood with her desi avatar in 2010 blockbuster ‘Dabangg’ starring Salman Khan. It was Salman who had seen the actor in her and inspired her to take up acting as a career. Post ‘Dabangg’, there were reports that the beauty was moving out of the Salman Khan camp to be friends with the who’s who of the industry which also included her mentor’s arch rival Shah Rukh Khan. Hence rumours of her rift with Salman were on full swing. However, Sonakshi decided to put all rumours to rest once and for all. While talking to Media, Sonakshi said, “Firstly, after `Dabangg` released it took me two months to really accept the fact that the film had reached such massive levels and that audiences loved me. Post that, both of us were busy with our respective projects, but whenever we met at events or functions we were as comfortable with each other as we were during the shooting of the film. Rumours of a problem between us amuses us no end, as ...

Christmas weekend is as good as Eid weekend for Dabangg 2 - Arbaaz
Bollywood Hungama - almost 5 years
Though Salman Khan was very keen on an Eid release for the sequel to Dabangg. The problem is another Salman film Ek Tha Tiger has already been scheduled for Eid. So another lucrative window, the Christmas weekend, was selected for the release of Dabangg 2. Says a source, "Ek Tha Tiger and Dabangg 2 are completely different films. However, Salman feels his fans cannot take both the films although they are hugely contrasting in plot, tone and entertainment value.' Arbaaz Khan who directs Dabangg 2 sees no purpose in crowding the Eid weekend with two Salman releases. Says Arbaaz, "We can't possibly release it this Eid. There's no sense in two Salman starrers on the same Friday. So the only option is to wait till next Eid in 2013. And that would be really late. So I'm going with the Christmas weekend for Dabangg 2, December 21. That is a terrific holiday weekend too." About Salman insisting on Eid for Dabangg 2, Arbaaz protests, "I don't think there should be any hard and fas ...
