Did RNC Forget Buses to Pick Up Florida Delegates?
Brandon Patch - over 4 years
Florida’s Republicans are already in trouble with their party for holding the primary earlier than desired. They paid the price in the number of delegates allowed at this year's Republican National Convention. They may have also helped add fuel to a fire to enhance the penalties for states that host early primaries. Now it looks like might be paying more. According to the Tampa Bay Times, the buses meant to pick up the Florida delegation at Palm Harbor’s Innisbrook Resort today at noon never arrived to bring them into downtown. “The RNC forgot to send them,” the Times story said. "Well, that sucks," the Times reported Hillsborough County GOP chair Art Wood as saying. "I guess it won't be the first glitch." Do you agree with Wood? Was it a glitch? Or is the party trying to send a message to Republicans from across the state? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.

Hall goes renewable
Matlock Mercury - almost 5 years
HOPTON Hall will soon be switching to renewable energy in a bid to cut costs and help the environment. The move comes after Bill and Julie Thomas bought the stately home, alongside its four holiday cottages and gardens, near Wirksworth. With the help of estate manager, Spencer Tallis, the couple have decided to install a state-of-the-art wood pellet boiler system. The system will heat the hall itself, the estate manager’s house, the four holiday cottages and the swimming pool. Mr Thomas said: “Making the move to renewable heating was just a question of time for us. “With every oil price rise the payback on a renewable system gets shorter and shorter.”

Hillsborough Republicans Cry Foul on Obama's Same-Sex Marriage Stance
Brandon Patch - almost 5 years
Hillsborough Republicans are calling President Obama's comments May 9 concerning legalizing same-sex marriage a ploy to garner votes this fall. In a television interview May 9, Obama publicly endorsed making same-sex marriage legal. The interview with ABC's Robin Roberts was broadcast yesterday afternoon. “I’ve just concluded that for me, personally, it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married,” Obama said to Roberts. Obama's remarks prompted an online reaction from the Hillsborough County Republican Party. “We understand that everything Mr. Obama is doing at this point, including his speeches, appearances and endorsements, is a part of a calculated and timed strategy to enhance his re-election campaign,” said Art Wood, chairman of the Hillsborough County Republican Party. “We think the issues of rising gas prices, a sluggish housing system and down-economy are all issues affecting Americans deeply and a ...
