Nina Sky’s New Song Is Proof They’ve Only Gotten Cooler Since 2004
Huffington Post - 8 months
There was a time when all you heard on Top 40 radio was "Move Ya Body." It stood out, too. Unlike the saccharine earworms that dominated the radio waves in 2004 from the likes of Ashlee Simpson and JoJo, this song ushered a movement, where dancehall and tropical sounds reigned (think Kevin Lyttle's "Turn Me On"). Nina Sky became the solution to whitewashed pop music we desperately needed. Nicole and Natalie Albino of Nina Sky are Puerto Rican-born identical twins who were raised in New York City (Queens, to be exact) and both identify as queer. But don't let that limit your perspective of them. Their identities certainly matter, but their fluidity (and unabashed confidence) seethe through everything they touch. They're role models for all women in the music industry without even overtly trying to be. The Huffington Post recently caught up with them over fries and drinks to talk about their new single, "Champion Lover," the pinnacle of reggaeton, NYC Pride, and so much more. ...

Why I Chose Not to Be a Victim of Infertility
Huffington Post - about 1 year
Tears rolled down my face. Again. This was nothing new. One line on a pregnancy test was a site I had come to know all too well. The pain of wanting so desperately to feel a human being kicking inside of me is something I don't have the words to describe. The ache of seeing a newborn baby and knowing that that is something you're body is not allowing you to have hurts in a very physical way. Heart ache is physically real, and those who struggle with infertility can testify to this fact. I used to feel victimized by God, angry at the fact that He was blessing my family and friends with precious babies, and not me. Was I not good enough to be a mother? Month after month came with some of the most painful heart breaks I could imagine. Test after test of negativity and nothingness. Nothingness. A victim. Borderline hopeless. I can't put an exact finger on the point when everything started changing, but it did. Maybe it was anger, maybe it was frustration, but I remember suddenl ...

The 36 Best and Worst Celebrity Baby Names of All Time
Huffington Post - about 2 years
Just as we turn to celebrities for new trends to name our children, we also look toward them to see what outrageous names they have picked this time around. From Apple to Zahara, Mallory Moss presents the best and worst celebrity baby names of all time. And when it was bad, it was horrid: Audio Science (Shannon Sossamon & Dallas Clayton). Supposedly, the parents -- a musician and an author -- were looking for a "word name" and decided this name was meaningful. Sorry, this name is hideous. Meaningful words in baby naming may include Harmony, Grace and, yes, even Moxie -- but not Audio Science! Pirate (Jonathan & Devon Davis). I suppose we should expect the frontman of Korn to have an odd name for a child to match his musical proclivities. But Pirate? Using words with negative connotations can target children with personas of ill-repute before they even have a chance to establish their own identities. Blue Ivy (Beyoncé Knowles & Jay-Z). Pete Wentz: Bronx Might Love Math – and Not Tattoos
Celebrity Babies - People - about 3 years
AKM-GSI Pete Wentz says his 5-year-old son, Bronx Mowgli, doesn’t share his love of body art. “I take him to preschool, and I’m picking him up one day and the teacher was like, ‘Well, everyone here drew tattoos on themselves except your kid.’ And I was like, ‘He’ll probably be into math or something,’” Wentz said on The Wendy Williams Show Tuesday. The Fall Out Boy bassist, 34, also explains why he and ex-wife Ashlee Simpson chose the name Bronx. “Honestly, we just liked the name a lot,” he says. “And I feel like definitely the other boroughs — Brooklyn especially — get a lot of love and so we wanted a shout out to the Boogie Down.” Simpson, who recently announced her engagement to Evan Ross, isn’t the only one that has moved on from their marriage. Much like her previous release, Simpson co-wrote all of the songs on the album. The album failed to match the success of Autobiography, though it went on to sell over three million copies worldwide. The album's lead single, "Boyfriend", was written about the rumors between Simpson and Valderama, and became her second top twenty hit in the United States. For the release of the album, Simpson went back to her blonde hair. The album's second and final single, "L.O.V.E.", entered the top forty in the United States. Simpson appeared for a second time as a musical performer on Saturday Night Live, performing the song "Catch Me When I Fall", which was inspired by her previous appearance on the series, as well as "Boyfriend".
