Exclusive: David Tom Previews His Return - After 12 Years - to The Young and the Restless
Seattle Pi - about 3 years
There's hell to pay on CBS's The Young and the Restless! Grieving dad Billy Abbott (Billy Miller) doesn't for sure know the identity of the hit-and-run driver who killed his little girl but his suspicions continue to mount next week when he learns that Adam Newman (Michael Muhney) - the creep who committed the crime - is making plans to leave the country. Look familiar? Tom played Billy from 1999 to 2002 and took home an Emmy of his own. TV Guide Magazine spoke with Tom - also known as Paul Cramer on One Life to Live and Chip Diller on Veronica Mars - about his unexpected return to Genoa City. TV Guide Magazine: Is it weird being back? There's certainly no closure, but there's a change in the depth of his anger. Should the audience give Billy a free pass for his grief sex with Kelly [Cynthia Watros]? [...] yes!

Pot Prospectors Seek Fortune In Legal Weed
Huffington Post - over 3 years
SEATTLE (AP) — Dot-bong, Marijuana Inc., the Green Rush: Call it what you will, the burgeoning legal marijuana industry in Washington state is drawing pot prospectors of all stripes. Microsoft veterans and farmers, real estate agents and pastry chefs, former journalists and longtime pot growers alike are seeking new challenges — and fortunes — in the production, processing and sale of a drug that's been illegal for generations. In Colorado, the only other state to legalize marijuana, existing medical marijuana dispensaries can begin selling for recreational use in January. But in Washington, where sales are expected to begin in late spring, the industry is open to nearly anyone — provided they've lived in the state for three months, pass a background check and raise any money from within the state. Washington on Monday begins accepting applications from those eager to jump in. Click through the portraits, or read through the profiles, of those hoping to make their mark in the new wo ...

The Wonderful, Sexual World of Bob Mizer (NSFW)
Huffington Post - over 3 years
I first became aware of the work of photographer, filmmaker and independent publisher Bob Mizer (1922-1992) by chance one momentous spring afternoon in the late '60s. I grew up in the ghetto of Detroit, and in the tenement where I lived, all but one of our windows faced an alley. On that afternoon, several of my junior high school buddies and I were hanging out in my room, and one of my pals spied the neighborhood's "dirty old man" hiding something in a trashcan. My friends and I wanted to see what that was all about, so we went down, got the bag out and dumped the contents on the ground. Out came a collection of homo porn of the '60s variety (before "gay" would have been used to describe it), mainly those muscle boy chapbooks like Grecian Guild, VIM and, notably, Bob Mizer's Physique Pictorial -- along with a couple more hardcore magazines. This was the first time I'd ever seen anything like that. It was a revelation: My heart and mind were racing. My pals picked them up, flipped thr ...

Store boss stole the Jewson lot
Spalding Guardian - almost 5 years
THE manager of Jewson Ltd in Bourne stole a bathroom suite worth nearly £6,000 over the course of a year and had it installed in his Spalding home. Nicholas Franklin (39), of Bourne Road, ordered the suite from various suppliers using Jewson as the purchaser and then wrote off the items from the store’s computer system, Spalding magistrates heard. Franklin appeared before the court on Thursday and was sent to Lincoln Crown Court for sentence. He admitted stealing the suite worth £5,895 between February 2011 and February this year. Rebecca Ritson, prosecuting, said the theft came to light when a security consultant went to Franklin’s home to check on other unrelated items and saw the bathroom fittings installed. Miss Ritson said Franklin was interviewed and “fully admitted taking the bathroom suite with no intention of returning it”. She told the court Franklin had worked for Jewson for 15 years and held the position of branch manager for six years. He was suspended when the thef ...

NYTimes - over 5 years
Had Elaine Stritch sung “I’m Still Here” at Café Carlyle on Tuesday night, it would have seemed redundant.
