Report: Gawker And Hulk Hogan In Settlement Talks In Privacy Case
Huffington Post - 7 months
Gawker Media Group is engaged in preliminary talks with the former professional wrestler Hulk Hogan to reach a settlement over a $140 million court judgment that led the company to file for bankruptcy protection, the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday. The settlement talks come a week ahead of a court-administered auction that will see Gawker Chief Executive Nick Denton lose control of the company, the Journal said. Similar discussions had taken place throughout the legal process, but it was not clear if the new talks would lead to a settlement, the WSJ said, citing two unnamed sources it said were familiar with the matter. Gawker and representatives for Denton and Hogan did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Hogan’s lawsuit accused Gawker, Denton and former Gawker editor A.J. Daulerio of violating his privacy by publishing a 1 minute, 41-second edited video clip featuring Hogan having sex with the wife of his then-best friend, the radio shock jock Bubb ...

Judge Denies Gawker New Trial In Hulk Hogan Case
Huffington Post - 9 months
TAMPA, Fla., May 25 (Reuters) - Gawker will not get a new trial to defend its posting of a Hulk Hogan sex tape, and a Florida judge also declined to reduce the $140 million in damages a jury awarded the celebrity wrestler after finding the media website violated his privacy, attorneys said on Wednesday. An attorney for Hogan, whose legal name is Terry Bollea, praised Judge Pamela Campbell's decision to deny Gawkwer's motion for a new trial. Campbell this year presided over the jury trial in state civil court in St. Petersburg, Florida, near the wrestler's home. The mustachioed former professional wrestler's legal fight has drawn wide attention for testing a celebrity's privacy rights and press freedoms in the digital age. "Gawker has failed and continues to fail in recognizing their obligation to Bollea for their reprehensible behavior and method of doing what they call journalism," his attorney, David Houston, said in a statement. Before the decision, the New York-based ...

Hulk Hogan takes on Gawker in Florida sex tape trial
Yahoo News - 12 months
By Letitia Stein ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (Reuters) - Hulk Hogan is asking a Florida jury to slam the website Gawker for publishing a secretly recorded sex tape of the former professional wrestler as an unusual trial weighing a celebrity's privacy rights gets underway on Monday. Hogan, who is also a reality TV star, says his privacy was violated when Gawker posted a nearly two-minute excerpt of him having sex with the former wife of his then-best friend, radio shock jock Bubba the Love Sponge. An accompanying article detailed the consensual encounter, which Gawker called "a goddamn masterpiece," and graphically described the naked body of the longtime champion of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).

Chris Kelly: Petraeus Withdrawl
The Huffington Post - over 4 years
There is a fort in the South were a few years ago a murder was committed. The participants of this tragedy were: two officers, a soldier, two women, a Filipino, and a horse. -- Reflections in a Golden Eye We need more Petraeus scandal. It can't be over yet. It just can't. We've got the fort in the South, MacDill Air Force Base. The two officers, Gens. Petraeus and Allen. The two women, Mmes Broadwell and Kelley. Fred Humphries, the Shirtless FBI Agent, killed a crippled Vietnam veteran with PTSD at the gates of MacDill in 2010. So there's a soldier, if not a murder. (Humphries wasn't charged with anything.) We have a jealous adulterous, reams of flirty emails, a fake cancer charity, two doctors named Scott (one or both cuckolded), and a visit to the Republican National Convention by MacDill's unpaid "social liaison" to sell South Korea clean coal. Hulk Hogan's Ex-Wife: 'He Never Sex-Taped Me'
Huffington Post - over 4 years
Linda Hogan spoke out about former husband Hulk Hogan's recently leaked sex tape, saying there are a lot of holes in the story he's been telling. "This is embarrassing to our family. His actions have proven to be completely disastrous, and my children, my kids are extremely embarrassed. But what are they going to do? They love their dad," Linda told me. "I feel there are a lot of holes in his story. As his wife and listening to all the stuff he's been talking about, I differ with quite a few things. When we were married, he didn't have an iPhone 3 and I don't remember that ringtone at all, so that's really interesting that he says that was six years ago," she said, referring to Hulk's phone ringing during the tryst. Confessing that she saw the tape long before it became public this month, Linda said she was appalled when she recognized Heather Clem, the woman her husband was with. Clem is the now-estranged wife of Hulk's friend Bubba the Love Sponge. "It was hard ...

Hulk Hogan Sex Tape Partner Filmed Three More Videos
Huffington Post - over 4 years
By now, we all know about Hulk Hogan's sex tape and the circus that evolved from it: the name-calling, disclaimers and lawsuit. Now TMZ reports that Hogan's partner in the film, Heather Clem (the wife of Hogan's best friend, Bubba the Love Sponge), is no stranger to sex tapes. In fact, the website claims that it has seen at least three additional sex tapes featuring Clem with other men and shot in a manner similar to Hogan's leaked sex tape. It is unclear whether those men were aware they were also being filmed. "Is this thing recording? Okay, not that I don't trust you but I will get in trouble if it doesn't," Clem is also reported to have said. That statement led TMZ to deduce that "Heather and Bubba had some kind of agreement in which Heather was allowed to screw other men ... as long as she recorded it." The 59-year-old wrestler told HuffPost Live earlier this month that Bubba the Love Sponge and his former wife Clem were swingers who "had an alternative lifesty ...

Bubba the Love Sponge fires back at Hulk Hogan over sex tape lawsuit
Cageside Seats - over 4 years
Remember when John Cena filed for divorce from his wife and the initial reports stated it would get ugly, really ugly, before it got better? Well, that turned out to be a load of bologna but at this point it seems safe to say the situation involving Hulk Hogan and his sex tape with Bubba the Love Sponge's ex-wife, Heather Clem, is going to get as ugly as was promised the Cena divorce would get. First, the tape managed to find a way to the public eye via sources no one yet knows for sure. Hogan and his lawyers quickly threatened legal action but when officials told them that wasn't happening, his next best move was to file lawsuits. So he sued his former friend Bubba, as well as Gawker, the website that released footage from the tape, for $100 million. Now, TampaBay.com has a story up on Bubba responding to the lawsuit on his radio show and as noted previously, this thing is probably going to get really nasty. Clem disputed Hogan's assertions indirectly this morning, ...

Porn Website Makes 'Huge Offer' For Hulk Hogan Sex Tape
Huffington Post - over 4 years
A porn company has made Hulk Hogan a "huge offer" for rights to a sex tape that leaked online last week, TMZ reports. According to TMZ, Sex.com "desperately wants to put [Hogan's] sex tape on their site" and has offered the former wrestler an "open checkbook" if he'd be willing to sign a deal with them. The sex tape -- which features Hogan and a woman rumored to be Heather Clem, the ex-wife of Hogan's best friend, DJ Bubba the Love Sponge -- was leaked online last week and posted on Gawker. The site's editor-in-chief, A.J. Daulerio, called the 30-minute tape "a goddamn masterpiece." Not everyone is as thrilled about the tape's sudden publicity, however. According to RadarOnline, the woman in the video is "completely devastated" that the sex tape has found its way into the spotlight. Hogan, on the other hand, has reportedly threatened to sue if the video isn't taken off the Internet. "This tape was made secretly without Hulk's knowledge or permission. We a ...

Clem, his Executive Producer Brent Hatley, and two other people were charged with animal cruelty; all four defendants were acquitted by a jury. In October 2006, Clem was sued by pornographic film actress Hope Miller, known professionally as Brooke Skye. Miller alleged that while performing on a radio program together with porn actress Melissa Harrington, Harrington penetrated her with an oversized sex toy against her will, at the demand of Clem.
