A 1975 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Long-Wheelbase Limousine that was owned by both Princess Margaret and later by Burt Reynolds is to be sold by Bonhams as part of the Rolls-Royce, Bentley Motor Cars & Automobilia sale at Rockingham Castle, Leicestershire on the 18th June. After WW2 Rolls-Royce became the preferred choice of the Royal Family, and the long-wheelbase Silver Shadow was supplied to the personal order of HRH Princess Margaret in 1975. The car offered by Bonhams incorporates many special features requested by Princess Margaret, including leather trimmed door cappings; flat side indicators fitted in line with chromed body mouldings; Nuella Black hide interior; and Cardinal Red paintwork with contrasting gold coachlines. In addition, it was requested that the seats be 'soft and comfortable', while other features include a flag mast and blue police lamp. Estimated to sell for £20,000 - 22,000, the Silver Shadow was destined to continue its high-profile ownership and was bought by the American movie star Burt Reynolds in 1984, who took the car to America and kept it at his ranch in Florida. This car represents a unique insight into a Rolls-Royce that encapsulated the tastes of both Royalty and Hollywood. Further highlights of the sale include a 1938 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Cabriolet, which was considered one of the most outstanding luxury cars of the 1930s, is estimated to sell for £160,000 - 180,000. A total of 710 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Cabriolet had been manufactured before WW2 halted production, and only 300 exist worldwide today. Among the Bentley's offered by Bonhams, a 1996 Bentley Azure Convertible is estimated to sell for £65,000 - 75,000. A 1936 Bentley 4¼-Litre Sports Saloon is estimated to sell for £45,000 - 55,000 and a 1964 Bentley S3 Saloon £25,000 - 30,000. This is a PR photo.
