Boy band One Direction hits Chicago-area mall for book signing

Midway through One Direction’s interview with “Good Morning America” Saturday outside Barnes & Noble in Old Orchard Center mall in Skokie, interviewer Cameron Mathison stopped the conversation and politely asked the 1,500 or so fans in attendance, some of whom camped out over night last week for wristbands to the book signing, to keep it down for audio purposes. The band members themselves stepped in to help, including Zayn Malik, who shushed the crowd.

Yahoo! and FishBowl Worldwide Media have launched a new episode of the highly popular web series Ultimate Surprises, featuring host and former All My Children actor Cameron Mathison and retired soldier/former All My Children actor/Dancing With The Stars champ JR Martinez, who surprises Senior Airmen Michael Malarsie with a new family home. Malarsie, 23, was severely wounded in Afghanistan in January 2010 during an explosion that killed four of his friends and left him completely blind. Since his return, Malarsie has shown bravery in the face of adversity. He is now assigned to the 59th Medical Wing and is part of the Air Force Recovering Airmen Mentorship Program, where he helps wounded warriors adjust to their new lives. To recognize his resilience, Ultimate Surprises teamed up with Martinez, Operation Finally Home and Tilson Homes to give Michael and his family the surprise of their life—a mortgage-free home.
