Shirley Temple -- the Good Ship Lollipop Has Lost Its Compass
Huffington Post - about 3 years
"Love is like a brick. You can build a house or you can sink a dead body," said Lady Gaga. •CAROLE Radziwill chose this quote to open her new novel, The Widow's Guide to Sex & Dating, coming from Henry Holt. Whether you think of Carole Radziwill as one of the popular villains of TVs The Real Housewives of New York, or as a social hold-over's tenuous connection with the Kennedy dynasty -- this lady can write and she is witty and funny. And she did it all by herself. The Housewives is Bravo's reality TV show and the Kennedy reference occurs because Carole was wed to the late Anthony Radziwill, the son of Lee Bouvier Radziwill, Jackie's younger sister. Anthony, a beloved young man who worked in television, was John Kennedy Jr.'s favorite first cousin and he succumbed all too early to cancer, not long after John went missing in a small airplane that went down near Martha's Vineyard. These young folks were awash in tragedy. The young widowed Carole later wrote a ...

Will She Stay Or Will She Go?
Huffington Post - almost 4 years
Luan De Lesseps is standing alone in Bravo's epic "Real Housewives Of New York City" salary dispute. According to The Hollywood Reporter, De Lesseps has refused to sign a deal that would keep her on the reality series. While fellow cast member Aviva Drescher was originally with her in the fight for higher pay, Drescher has since given in. Hey @extratv ! U guys just aired that I am not signed on to #rhony season 6. 4r betr or worse signed on and filming! #masochist. Lolxoxo — Aviva Drescher (@AvivaDrescher) May 23, 2013 It's not clear how big De Lesseps' role will be if she does eventually sign, or Drescher's for that matter. But Bravo has threatened to cancel the series in recent weeks, especially when Ramona Singer and Carole Radziwill refused to sign on earlier this month. I still haven't decided. Look Who's Back!
Huffington Post - almost 4 years
The "Real Housewives of New York" cast may be missing some of its leading ladies when Season 6 premieres. Bravo confirmed to The Huffington Post that only Ramona Singer, Carole Radziwill and Heather Thomson have signed on for Season 6. All three ladies were in attendance for Bravo's upfront presentation on Wednesday. There is no word yet on whether Aviva Drescher, Sonja Morgan or LuAnn de Lesseps will be a part of the "Real Housewives of New York" cast. Aviva has only been a part of the show for Season 5, while Sonja Morgan has been around since the third season and LuAnn has been a cast member since the show premiered in 2008. The New York Daily News reports that the unsigned "Real Housewives of New York" cast members are looking for more money. Filming for Season 6 is set to kick off in the next few weeks. Evan Ross Katz: 'Real Housewife' Aviva Drescher: 'Care About Kindness'
Huffington Post - almost 4 years
If being a "Real Housewife" is all diamonds and rosé, being a replacement "Housewife" is bit more like... jellybeans. Take Peggy Tanous, who joined the cast of the mother ship, The Real Housewives of OC, for its sixth season in 2011. Bringeth the drama she did not, so Peggy was demoted to "Friend of a Housewife" for the following season. Dana Wilkey had a similar fate on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills when she was brought in as a "friend' during the show's second season, only to see fellow "friend" (but not friend -- let's be clear) Brandi Glanville become the show's second-wind breakaway star. But no franchise has had more difficulty with that 'ole routine maintenance than The Real Housewives of New York City. When Bethenny Frankel successfully crossed through the mythical reality star ether with her SkinnyGirl Cocktails (sold to Beam Global for an astonishing $120 million in 2011), she opted to depart the show at the conclusion of the third season, leaving behi ...

Joshua Estrin: Jill Zarin Needs to Stop Complaining
Huffington Post - over 4 years
While I rarely share my opinion and rather choose to stick to the facts. I find myself compelled to offer my thoughts on the recent appearance of ex Real Housewife Jill Zarin on the hugely successful What Happens Live with host Andy Cohen. Over 1.3 million viewers tuned in to see what? Surprise! Zarin still angry and needing to discuss the reasons she was fired as well as whether the network played favorites. While no one likes to get fired and no one likes to feel unappreciated, Jill seems to hold steadfast to a grudge with no less tenacity than a Pitbull. Having exhausted her 15 minutes of fame over and over (and over) again it strikes me that she has acted less like a socialite and more like a mean girl. With less than stellar rating this season, Jill contends that Bravo "should bring back me, Alex and Kelly and fire Carole [Radziwill] and Heather [Thompson]. Whoever was responsible for this disaster, should be fired," she said, adding, "I feel vindicated." ...

Jill Zarin: Whoever Replaced Me 'Should Be Fired'
Huffington Post - over 4 years
Former "Real Housewives of New York City" star Jill Zarin returned to Bravo Monday night, delivering staggering ratings in a 30-minute one-on-one interview. More than 1.3 million viewers tuned in to see Zarin discuss why she was fired and her feelings on whether the network favored certain cast members over others. “How do they feel, Simon and Alex? After the show it's very hard to get a regular job,” Zarin said. “Fame doesn’t go away so fast, but once you are fired you lose your publicist and income. I would love to know if they [Bravo] think they have an obligation.” After the interview was taped, Bravo executive and "What What Happens Live" host Andy Cohen tweeted that he goes to great lengths to treat the "Housewives" equally, something Jill says is not true. “Andy looked in shock when I accused him of picking sides, he looked perplexed. How do you think we all felt when he had Skinnygirl [a collection of drinks produced by Bethenny Frankel] behind him for two years ...

Jill Zarin was fired from The Real Housewives of New York City last year. And it's safe to say the reality star took the news hard. Very hard. "It felt like my funeral," Zarin told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live last night. "I was heartbroken." Among the many other topics covered by Zarin in the interview: Her fights with Bethenny Frankel were staged for ratings. Her feelings on newbies Aviva Drescher, Carole Radziwill and Heather Thomson. Ramona Singer on Real Housewives of New York Reunion: Carole Radziwill Can Be "Malicious"
US Magazine - over 4 years
Reunion-palooza! After a seriously revamped Real Housewives of New York wrapped up its fifth season, the ladies reminisced -- and sniped -- with Andy Cohen presiding in part one of their reunion, which aired Monday on Bravo. In her exclusive Us Weekly blog, Ramona Singer weighs in on the heated discussion -- and what newcomers Carole Radziwill, Heather Thomson and Aviva Drescher brought to the table. PHOTOS: RHONYC's cattiest moments ever Carole was a very interesting addition to RHONYC. She is very downtown peace love and flower power. Sometimes though, you need to take a stand. To allow and enable Aviva and George's behavior and not call them on it at her book party; to not comment about Reid's very rude comment about overweight women gone wild; to not take control as a hostess in St Barth's and try to calm and rectify the situation... I understand LuAnn's point about Carole. When filming, Carol was Zen-like and, by her own admission on the reunion, passive and just ...

'Real Housewives' Reunion Saw Surprising Admissions, Barking
Huffington Post - over 4 years
The "Real Housewives of New York" reunion, taped this past Thursday at the Museum of American Finance, was so dramatic that it left one housewife accused of using drugs, another barking like a dog and, most surprisingly, one actually taking responsibility for her actions. "It was supposed to start at 9 a.m., but we didn't start until 11," a source close to the production tells me. "Every 90 minutes, we got a break, and we had a 60-minute lunch break at 1:30 p.m. The cast all went to private hotel rooms for lunch and wanted to be apart. They finished at 7:30 p.m." One of the most important issues of the day was secrecy. Every measure was taken to ensure that no leaks occurred. The ladies didn't even know the taping location until drivers dropped them off at the venue on Wall Street. Even the use of cell phones was restricted, although that didn't stop a picture getting out. "All hell broke lose when a picture taken of the screen in the green room was tweeted out," one ...

US Magazine - over 4 years
Name: Carole Radziwill Occupation: TV personality; author Fashion Mash-up: The Manhattan native -- and star of Bravo's The Real Housewives of New York City -- describes her look as "unconventional, very mix-and-match." She adds, "I don't match a nice skirt with a nice blouse or a dress with the perfect shoe. If I wear a dress, I'll wear a motorcycle boot. I like to mix it up. I like it to be a little unconventional." Radziwill religiously wears only a handful of labels: Isabel Marant, Rag and Bone, Rick Owens and Helmut Lang. "If you stick to two or three designers, you don't look like a schizophrenic!" Timeless Tip: Her best piece of style advice came from her dear friend, Carolyn Bessette, who died in a 1999 plane crash with husband John F. Kennedy, Jr. "She always told me, 'Own what you're wearing.' You can get very insecure when you're dressing and you're like, 'Does this go with this?' and it does go if you feel good in it," says Radziwill, whose style staples include Bal ...
