Hulu Announces Ghost Comedy, New Programming for 2014
Huffington Post - about 3 years
Hulu is trying a medium on for size with a lineup of original programming. Announced today, the online video service will be rolling out four new shows and six returning ones for 2014. Along with popular projects such as East Los High and The Awesomes, which will be coming back for a second season, Hulu announced Deadbeat, a new paranormal comedy. Starring Tyler Labine (Reaper, Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, shown above), Deadbeat follows a ghost whisperer who helps specters settle their unfinished business. Also on the show is Cat Deeley, from So You Think You Can Dance, who is the rival to Tyler's character. Hulu development chief Charlotte Koh said the show would have an irreverent sense of humor and be a mix of "supernatural, comedy and buddy elements in a cocktail." Premiering April 9, the 10-episode series is a co-production with Lionsgate Television and marks a "genre reinvention angle we look for," said Koh. Other new programming on the way is Hotwives of Orlando, a Real Hou ...

Cat Deeley's Bad Teeth Take Center Stage On 'The Exes'
Popeater - over 3 years
Cat Deeley is always a stunning beauty on "So You Think You Can Dance." But she brought a different look to her guest-starring role on "The Exes." Deeley played Charlotte, a girl Stuart met online. Understandably, he was smitten with her. That is, until he saw her teeth. No, these weren't Deeley's regular teeth. She had the worst possible set of mangled chompers, fully embracing the stereotype about British people and bad teeth. As a dentist, Stuart's skin was crawling the second he saw them. So, he and Haskell devised one of those terrible sitcom plans. Haskell would pretend to be a drunken stranger and insult Charlotte's teeth so much that she'd let Stuart fix them. “What is this, ‘Shark Week?'" Haskell asked her. "The last time I saw a smile like that it had a candle in its head!” In one regard, the plan worked. Charlotte was so offended that she got her teeth fixed on her own. On the other hand, when she surprised Stuart with her new, pearly whites, she found out ...

Emmy 2013 Round Table: Cat Deely, Jeff Probst and more talk Reality TV
LATimes - over 3 years
Reality TV bestows upon the viewing public a glut of entertainments: dancers portraying flitting hummingbirds trying to seduce a blooming flower; entrepreneurs who've found an extra use for pillow cases by making them into dresses; adventurers threatening to urinate on rice (and beans); even four of music's top performers swirling in big red chairs. And the ratings come pouring in. The Envelope gathered four faces of reality TV (some of whom double as executive producers) — Carson Daly of NBC's "The Voice," Cat Deeley of Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance," Jeff Probst of CBS' "Survivor" and Mark Cuban of ABC's "Shark Tank" — to talk about longevity in the genre, the push and pull of dealing with contestants and the waning power of "American Idol."

Red Carpet Trend Report: The Scoop on Wacky Hemlines, White Heels & ‘Too Much Look’
People Magazine - almost 4 years
We like to stay on top of trends, but we have to admit that the two looks seen all over the red carpet lately have us a little surprised. And yet, the stars wearing them look so cute that we may put prejudices aside and give them a try ourselves. See which styles are gaining ground — and which one we’re ready to leave in the dust — below: Up: Funky hemlines. More advanced than your basic high-low or handkerchief hemlines, stars like Halle Berry and Nicole Richie have been sporting fitted skirts with triangular cutouts. This look has the same thigh-baring effect as a high slit without being quite as obvious — though we strongly recommend practicing sitting and standing in this one before taking it public. Up: White heels. Though Memorial Day is still months away (we sigh, as we stare at the snow coming down), stars are taking their pristine pumps out of retirement and onto the red carpet. We’ve seen Eva Longoria, Ginnifer Goodwin, Giuliana Rancic and Olivia Munn in pumps an ...

Style Rx: Cat Deeley’s Just Waiting to Exhale
People Magazine - almost 4 years
Stefanie Keenan/WireImage Who: Cat Deeley Where: An L.A. party for Dukes of Melrose Diagnosis: Fun idea, poor execution. There’s no doubt abs are in, but pulling the look off requires a healthy dose of effortlessness. The stripes, the pleats and the over-the-top makeup — plus the distinct impression that she’s clenching her stomach muscles for dear life — don’t give the look quite the “cool California girl” vibe it requires. Prognosis: Fortunately Deeley has great style, so we know this can be saved with a little style surgery. We say ditch the matchy top and add a boxy black cropped tee. Apply eye makeup remover liberally to the under-eye liner and shake out the hair. Finally, exhale. She’s got a great midriff already; no sense in passing out to prove it!
