This Town Is Threatening To Punish Drunk Drivers With Nickelback
Huffington Post - 3 months
What’s worse than a fine, a criminal charge, and a driving suspension? Sorting out those legal troubles to the tune of Nickelback. A Canadian police department is getting creative when it comes to preventing drunk driving. The Kensington Police Service says that it will force offenders to listen to everyone’s favorite Canadian band —Nickelback —should they find themselves in the back of a squad car this holiday season. Authorities issued the warning for “those dumb enough to feel they can drink and drive” in a post to Facebook on Saturday. “Now, now, no need to thank us, we figure if you are foolish enough to get behind the wheel after drinking then a little Chad Kroeger and the boys is the perfect gift for you,” the department said. The post mentions that the album, “Silver Side Up” from 2001, is still in the plastic wrapper, so hopefully Kensington will make it through New Year’s without having to crack it open. “So please, lets not ruin a perfectly good unopened cop ...

Canadian police officers want to prevent drunk driving with Nickelback
Yahoo News - 3 months
Drunk driving can be difficult to prevent. So difficult, in fact, that police organizations have turned to terrible music as a preventative tactic. In a Facebook post from Saturday, the Kensington Police Service of Kensington, Price Edward Island announced an ingenious punishment to discourage drunk driving. Rather than detailing the legal repercussions drunk drivers will face, they'll have to endure a car ride to jail while Nickelback plays. SEE ALSO: New Zealand police officers dance to improve relationship with community To show just how serious they are, the Kensington Police included a photo of the Nickelback tape they intend to play for offenders. The post reads: "Now, now, no need to thank us, we figure if you are foolish enough to get behind the wheel after drinking then a little Chad Kroeger and the boys is the perfect gift for you." This announcement might serve as a little harmless fun, but there is nothing more fear-inducing than the idea of listening to Nickelback while ...

Please Promise You'll Skip the Whole Couples' Costume Thing
Huffington Post - over 1 year
Experts in being alone say you shouldn't couple up with someone right before one of the big lovey-dovey holidays. Valentine's Day and Christmas come with big fat expectations, and it's added stress that your new relationship doesn't need. Also not needed: couples' costumes at Halloween. It's tempting for so many reasons, but please. Do the world-- and yourself-- and your other half-- a fun-sized favor. Skip it, for so many reasons. Human are not accessories So...you've gone out a few times. Things are going great. He texts you during non-vampire hours, and your last date brought you into the "let's stay in and cook something ethnic, so it's more fun than regular food, and watch Mindy on Hulu" zone. Don't push it. Yes, the fact that you're currently dating a black fellow combined with your total dedication to the 30-Day Squat Challenge means you know can achieve the ultimate Kim 'n Kanye or Ice-T 'n Coco. Avril Lavigne's Ex-Husband Deryck Whibley Drops Her Last Name 3 Years After Divorce
Huffington Post - over 3 years
Deryck Whibley is no longer Deryck Jason Lavigne Whibley. Three years after he finalized his divorce from Canadian pop star Avril Lavigne, who has since remarried Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, Whibley filed a petition to legally drop her last name. He had adopted the surname as one of his middle names after they tied the knot in 2006, reports TMZ. Whibley and Lavigne filed for divorce in 2009; Lavigne remarried this past July, which perhaps prompted the Sum 41 singer to finally let go of the last vestige of his marriage to the "Compicated" singer. And though it wasn't that long ago that Lavigne and her ex were believed to have a good relationship post-divorce, the fact that Whibley and his girlfriend, Ari Cooper, dressed up as Lavigne and Kroeger for Halloween in 2012 speaks volumes.

9 Facts That Prove Life On Earth Is Meaningless
Huffington Post - over 3 years
You used to be happy. After reading these depressing facts, that probably won't be the case. 1. Taylor Swift has more Twitter followers than the entire population of Canada. And she's actually not alone! Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Lady GaGa, and Barack Obama also have more Twitter followers than the population of Canada - which is totals around 35 million people. [H/T=@mariasherm] 2. There are more Juggalos than there are Polar Bears in the world. According to the World Wildlife Foundation, there are somewhere between 20-25k polar bears. While it is a bit tricky to pin down the exact total of the Juggalo population, over 1.1 million people like Insane Clown Posse on Facebook and over 20k Juggalos regularly attend the annual Gathering of the Juggalos, an event that itself serves as a reason to question our existence. [H/T=David Cross] 3. Guy Fieri has the same number of New York Times bestsellers as Kurt Vonnegut. Celebrity chef and occasional street fighter Guy Fieri h ...

Which Avril Lavigne Do You Prefer: Classy Avril or Sassy Avril?
People Magazine - over 3 years
Lam Yik Fei/Getty; AKM-GSI When we saw Avril Lavigne in an elegant black-and-white gown at the Huading Image Awards in China earlier this week, we had to wonder if the star was turning over a new leaf, stylewise. Rather than gold blush or thick rings of eyeliner, she wore a subdued cat eye and soft pink lips. Rather than technicolor-streaked half-shaved hair, she wore center-parted blonde waves. Perhaps having a permanent duet partner was making her soft? RELATED: Vote on more star style in Last Night’s Look! But not for long! The star was next spotted at an airport looking like the Mrs. Chad Kroeger we’ve come to know and love. Sporting her giant pear-shaped diamond and a pair of aviators — oh yeah, and cornrows streaked with magenta strands — she looked as pleased as ever to wear a “life sux” tee. As jarring as it was to see Lavigne all gussied up with not a hint of raccoon eye in sight, she did look lovely. On the other hand, we’re so used to seeing her with something funk ...

Avril Lavigne’s Black Wedding Dress: Why She Wore It – and What Chad Gave Her On Their Wedding Day
People Magazine - over 3 years
Mark Liddell Avril Lavigne‘s black Monique Lhuillier wedding gown may have been nontraditional – but that doesn’t mean she didn’t have all the same concerns as a traditional bride. “I didn’t want it to be crazy and puffy,” she tells ET Canada in an interview that airs tonight. “I didn’t want it to wear me.” But she did want it to be “gothic” to reflect the atmosphere of her south of France castle wedding, with lots of red and black candles and roses. “I wanted to get married at midnight then party ’til the wee hours in the morning,” she shares. “But we got married around 9:00, then we left the castle about 6 or 7 in the morning when the sun was up, which is our style anyway.” RELATED: See more stunning star wedding looks here! Huffington Post - over 3 years
The last time we heard from Brody Jenner, he was saying goodbye to Kristen Cavallari on the series finale of "The Hills," dating Canadian Playboy Playmate of the Year Jayde Nicole and being active on Twitter. That is until the curly-haired met, dated and split up with Canadian pop-punk goddess Avril Lavigne, guest-starred on a little reality TV show called "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" (you may have heard of it) and got himself a new model girlfriend. Now that Brody's back in the news, we can't stop talking about the 29-year-old, whether it's about his resentment towards absentee dad Bruce Jenner, his sexy beach body or whether he still talks to reality TV's most-loved villain, Spencer Pratt. But the one topic we at HuffPost Canada TV can't stop wondering about is what the former "Princes of Malibu" star thinks about ex Avril Lavigne's wedding to Nickeback frontman, Chad Kroeger, which took place on Canada Day. Avril Lavigne Wears Black Wedding Dress, Watches Fireworks With Chad Kroeger: Picture
US Magazine - over 3 years
Avril Lavigne has never been one to abide by tradition, so it only makes sense that the Canadian pop-punk singer celebrated her recent nuptials to Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger on Monday, July 1, in a black -- not white -- wedding gown. The "Complicated" singer, 28, rocked a bejeweled flower headpiece in her long blonde hair to complement her strapless black Monique Lhullier gown (90210 star Shenae Grimes also wore a black Vera Wang gown for her May nuptials). Kroeger, 38, wore a black tuxedo over a black shirt and vest in true rocker form. PHOTOS: Avril Lavigne through the years The couple, who said "I do" in an elaborate ceremony at the Chateau La Napoule in Mandelieu, France, treated guests to an impressive fireworks display on the Mediterranean just before midnight, a source told Us Weekly.
