Watch the gripping trailer for Amazon’s next movie, ‘The Lost City of Z’
Yahoo News - 24 days
Amazon's original content might not get as much buzz as the average Netflix series , but that hasn't stopped the company from pressing forward with new movies and shows. In fact, just this week Amazon shared a trailer for its next original movie, The Lost City of Z , and it looks like it could be a thrilling adventure. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yixiv6A0BbU "Based on author David Grann’s nonfiction bestseller, THE LOST CITY OF Z tells the incredible true story of British explorer Percy Fawcett (Charlie Hunnam), who journeys into the Amazon at the dawn of the 20th century and discovers evidence of a previously unknown, advanced civilization that may have once inhabited the region," reads the synopsis for the film. "Despite being ridiculed by the scientific establishment who regard indigenous populations as “savages,” the determined Fawcett – supported by his devoted wife (Sienna Miller), son (Tom Holland) and aide de camp (Robert Pattinson) – returns time and again to his beloved ju ...

Charlie Hunnam Won't Be Back For 'Pacific Rim 2' Because Of 'Politics'
Huffington Post - 7 months
Say it ain’t so! “Sons of Anarchy” star Charlie Hunnam announced that he will not reprise his role as Raleigh Becket in the upcoming film “Pacific Rim: Maelstrom” (also known as “Pacific Rim 2”). In an interview with Yahoo! Movies, the 36-year-old actor blamed his absence on scheduling conflicts and Hollywood politics. “There was one incarnation of this sequel that involved me heavily, but I was unavailable,” Hunnam said. “They have a very definite schedule that they have to film because of the, you know, politics and business surrounding filmmaking. Sometimes non-creative decisions will dictate how something unfolds, which seems [ass-backwards] in [the] fact that we’re making art, or aspiring to make art, but it unfortunately ended up being something we couldn’t remedy.” Despite Hunnam’s diplomatic answer, it definitely sounds like there’s some frustration here. The actor managed to keep his thoughts to himself and ― ever the gentleman ― say a few positive things about t ...

Why We Care That The Bastard Executioner Died
Huffington Post - over 1 year
In a move that caused virtually no ripple at all in the TV biz, FX canceled The Bastard Executioner this week. We won't say FX was in a hurry to get this done, but the TV screen was still glowing with the closing credits of the last episode when the network swung its own execution ax. And we all would have pretty much forgotten it already except that The Bastard Executioner did come with a pedigree: It was Kurt Sutter's followup to the acclaimed and quite wonderful Sons of Anarchy. So what most fans are really doing is waiting for him to return to that world, which he has said he's about to do. The Bastard Executioner was an intermission, a chance for fans to get up and stretch their legs while they wait for the real show to resume. Because Sutter put a lot into The Bastard Executioner and the story clearly meant something to him, it's worth taking a moment to ask what went wrong with this one after what he did with Sons was so right. That answer turns out to be s ...

Movie Review: Crimson Peak...Don't Go Alone
Huffington Post - over 1 year
If you like being scared, Crimson Peak, a modern day gothic tale, is for you. The sets, costumes, and acting all make for an eerie evening a la popcorn. Mia Wasikowski is stunning as the heroine. Her vulnerability makes you want to protect her from the evil ways of Tom Hiddleston and Jessica Chastain who rips the screen with her hold on terror. Lush, period romantic opulence create Crimson Peak's intrigue. Chastain (The Help, The Martian) as Lucille Sharpe is barely recognizable with her brunette locks which she wears well. Red hair has been her signature, but in this film she is a brunette monster much as Mrs. Danvers in Hitchcock's Rebecca., but with her signature beauty Mrs. Danvers lacked. Chastain's steely demeanor carries this film. Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy¸Pacific Rim) as Dr. Alan Michaels is always an appealing persona on screen and here his charm is of utmost importance. Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland, Madame Bovary) plays an aspiring writer, Edith Cushing, who sees ...

Nominees for the Critics Choice Television Awards include “24: Live Another Day” and many more
Hollywood News - almost 2 years
Yesterday, the nominations for the 5th annual Critics Choice Television Awards were announced. The sister group to the Critics Choice Movie Awards, this is what could be looked at as a bit of an Emmy Awards precursor, if you will. I’m not exactly an expert when it comes to TV and this awards season (it’s mostly film or bust for me in that regard), but I watch a handful of shows and follow along with the race. Not enough to accurately do predictions, mind you, but I did think this nomination announcement was worthy of a mention. As such, today we have the list of Critics Choice nominees, which I’ll be revealing to you shortly. Among the titles that fared best this year with the nominations, we have Justified lead the way with five nominations. Following that, we have The Americans, The Good Wife, and Transparent with four apiece. Also doing quite well were 24: Live Another Day, Empire, The Leftovers, and Mom, just to name a few of the various titles that showed up here. It seems like t ...

Comment on 10 Actors Who Could Play The Next Indiana Jones by Shawn
HeyUGuys.co.uk - almost 2 years
You can’t be serious with most of these choices. Liam Hemsworth can’t act. Channing Tatum is a meathead, he doesn’t have the finesse of Indy. Chris Pratt is likeable, but Indy doesn’t bumble his way through life. Jamie Dornan is a baby-face who doesn’t have what it takes to handle a bull whip. I think Dakota Johnson would do a better job than him. That was a waste of 4 options. I would replace them with Chris Pine, Charlie Hunnam, Robert Pattinson and Jake Gyllenhaal.

First 'Fifty Shades Of Grey' Poster Hits Five Major Cities Across U.S.
Huffington Post - about 3 years
Universal Pictures unveiled the first promotional material for "Fifty Shades of Grey" on Friday: a poster that will hit five major U.S. cities to "[start] the yearlong countdown to Valentine's Day 2015 when the film arrives in theaters." Unsurprisingly, the poster doesn't provide a ton of new insight about the movie or its titular provocateur. In the ad Jamie Dornan wears a fitted suit while overlooking the Seattle skyline. Even though we only see his backside, the feel of the image radiates confidence. We just know Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) is out there, waiting to be emboldened by her dominating new suitor. If you live near one of five cosmopolitan street corners where the poster will appear, you can gauge Christian Grey's suaveness for yourself. Those intersections are in New York (Grand Street & 6th Ave.), Los Angeles (Wilshire Blvd. & Gayley), Chicago (LaSalle & Hubbard), San Francisco (Mission Street & 6th) and Seattle (1st & Wall Street).
