Huffington Post - over 1 year
Richard Gere has turned in bravura work lately, playing a homeless man in "Time Out of Mind" and an unscrupulous hedge-fund magnate in "Arbitrage." From the looks of the first clip from 2016's "The Benefactor," exclusive to The Huffington Post, Gere has another bang-up performance around the corner. Sundance Film Festival 2014 U.S. Competition Entries Feature Kristen Stewart, John Slattery, Lena Dunham
Huffington Post - over 3 years
Our first major glimpse of next year's indie darlings is here, thanks to the newly unveiled lineup for the Sundance Film Festival. Among the offerings for U.S. competition at next year's fest are the first feature film directed by "Mad Men" star John Slattery, a big-screen return from Lena Dunham and the reliable presence of festival-circuit favorites like John Hawkes and director Joe Swanberg ("Drinking Buddies," "LOL"). The competition is also lathered with genre flicks, from the horrific "Cold in July" and "Life After Beth" to the dramedy trappings of "The Skeleton Twins," which stars Bill Hader, Kristen Wiig, Luke Wilson and Ty Burrell. Still, A-listers like Kristen Stewart, Anne Hathaway, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Aaron Paul are among the featured players, so we can count on the festival to maintain its usual confluence of obscure movies with ever-popular stars. Here are the 16 movies screening in the U.S. competition. All are receiving their world premieres at Sundance. "C ...

Kyra Kennedy, Daughter Of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Debuts At Debutantes Ball (PHOTOS)
Huffington Post - over 3 years
If the name "Kennedy" harkens back to a bygone era of glamour, then the words "debutantes ball" will probably do the same. And yet both are still going strong. Kyra Kennedy, daughter of Robert Kennedy Jr. and great-niece to the late President John F. Kennedy, made her formal debut at the Bal Des Débutantes 2013 in Paris this weekend. The ball, held at the Hôtel de Crillon, saw over 20 "debs" introduced to society in the most glamorous couture while their parents watched on. For 18-year-old Kyra, that meant donning a black and icy blue Christian Dior gown, which she was fitted for at Dior in Paris last Wednesday. Her father and his girlfriend, Cheryl Hines, attended in their own formalwear. If the whole charade sounds like old-school Americana, note that it was a rather international affair: Lady Amelia Windsor, the granddaughter of one of Queen Elizabeth II's cousins Francesca Packer Barham, also made her debut, as did Rebecca Eu, daughter of Singapore business scion Richard Eu. ...

Cheryl Hines made her assistant clean up hedgehog poop, and doesn't regret it
Yahoo News - over 3 years
By Lucas Shaw NEW YORK (TheWrap.com) - Before landing the role of Larry David's wife on "Curb Your Enthusiasm," Cheryl Hines was an assistant to Rob Reiner. Now that she's a TV star, she has had her share of assistants, including one she'll ask to do anything — and he'll do it. "There is a really gritty, unglamorous underbelly to show business called the assistant world," Hines told TheWrap. From that dynamic comes many stories that inspired Hines and her friend Rachael Harris to create "We Need Help," a show about Hollywood's less savory side, produced by Principato-Young and Vuguru. ...

Tupac Receiving A Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame
MTV News - almost 4 years
By Nakiya Morgan Tupac Shakur has impacted hip-hop in countless ways and his reign is still far from over. He made history this week when he became the fourth rapper to ever receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. David Green, the Hollywood Walk of Fame committee chairman, announced Tupac as an honoree on Thursday, along with other stars like Jennifer Lopez and Katy Perry. This comes as no surprise since Shakur has always been a big star in the game. "If 'Pac had been in the movie he would've outshined everyone," Allen Hughes told MTV News in January, of Pac almost starring in "Menace II Society."  Hughes spoke highly of the late rapper and his ability to eclipse everyone around him. “As wonderful a performance as Larenz was, I think Tupac... it would've thrown the whole axis of the movie off if Tupac was in it, because he was bigger than the movie.” Tupac Shakur will join Holland-Dozier-Holland, Rick Springfield, Cheryl Hines and more as 2014 inductees into the Hollyw ...

'Suburgatory' Is Losing Two Cast Members
Huffington Post - almost 4 years
"Suburgatory" will look very different when it returns for Season 3, with Deadline reporting that regulars Alan Tudyk and Rex Lee have not had their contracts renewed for next season. We hear that there is a possibility that the two could return as guest stars. The comedy's renewal was reportedly a last-minute decision for ABC and came with a reduction in the license fee, which means the producers have to find ways to cut costs -- which, for an ensemble comedy, sadly means trimming the cast. According to Deadline, there may be further cuts or demotions from regular to recurring status ahead; stars Jane Levy, Jeremy Sisto, Cheryl Hines, Carly Chaikin, Ana Gasteyer and Allie Grant are the show's remaining regulars. Both actors have been with the comedy since the pilot, with Tudyk playing Noah Werner, the extravagant best friend of Sisto's character George, while Lee portrayed high school guidance counsellor Mr. Wolfe, who often interacted with Levy's Tessa. Because ...

Jeremy Sisto Previews Relationship Drama On 'Suburgatory'
Huffington Post - about 4 years
George (Jeremy Sisto) and Dallas (Cheryl Hines) have had a tumultuous romance on "Suburgatory" thus far, and it sounds like things are only going to get more complicated as we approach the end of the season, with Dallas' insecurities starting to undermine their relationship. HuffPost TV caught up with Jeremy Sisto to find out what's ahead for the unusual pair, whether George still has feelings for Alex (Malin Akerman) and what the end of the season holds for George and Tessa (Jane Levy). Spoilers ahead. What can you preview about this week's episode? It's my birthday episode and Dallas tries to get me a gift. She tries to really think about what I would like and get me something that I would appreciate, and I’m sure she had every desire to get me some kind of pastel outfit, but she restrained herself and she got me a guitar. But the problem is, it’s like the ugliest guitar in the world ... she just missed the mark. It’s funny, George loves this about her; honestly, ...

Carly Chaikin On Dalia's Latest 'Suburgatory' Scheme
Huffington Post - about 4 years
When ABC's "Suburgatory" first premiered, it was easy to dismiss the blonde and vapid Dalia Royce (Carly Chaikin) as just another stereotypical mean girl, but as the show has developed, so has Dalia -- she's become one of show's most unexpected delights, with Chaikin's deadpan delivery proving the perfect counterbalance for some of the comedy's broader moments. This week's episode, titled "How to Be a Baby," (Wednesday, March 6 at 9:30 p.m. EST) sees Dalia giving the lovelorn Mr. Wolfe (Rex Lee) some unexpected advice, as well as stealing two of the week's most memorable scenes. HuffPost TV caught up with Chaikin to preview tonight's episode and find out what's ahead for our favorite spoiled Chatswinian. In this week's episode, we get to see a very special and unique Dalia trait, which is called "dry crying." How did you come up with that performance? Oh my God. I haven’t even seen that yet. Well, filming that was actually really funny. For that scene, we did a bunch ...

Cheryl Hines Previews 'Suburgatory's' Valentine's Day Episode
Huffington Post - about 4 years
Love is in the air for "Suburgatory's" Valentine's Day episode (Wed., Feb 13 at 9:30 p.m. EST on ABC), but as is the case with most things in Chatswin, nothing really goes according to plan. While the Shays deal with the reality of overbearing mothers, and Tessa (Jane Levy) and Ryan (Parker Young) struggle to find common ground on their date, George (Jeremy Sisto) and Dallas (Cheryl Hines) see their lavish V-Day itinerary disrupted after Dallas has an unfortunate reaction to a cosmetic procedure. HuffPost TV caught up with Cheryl Hines via phone to learn more about the romantic episode (titled "Blowtox and Burlap"), what's coming up for George and Dallas and how she approaches the show's more surreal scenes. Dallas spends most of the Valentine's Day episode hiding her face and lurking in the shadows because of some cosmetic surgery gone wrong, but the end result is pretty amazing. How was it to work with the prosthetics? It was really uncomfortable. [Laughs.] It w ...

Lisa Steinberg: There Goes The Neighborhood
Huffington Post - over 4 years
Life can be a drag when you're watching the same old family-centric television program week after week. Always the same issues, the same jokes, the same mundane family, but with different character names. If you're looking for outside of the box, something to break the monotony up of those cookie cutter programs, you're in need of a trip to Chatswin for a hell of a good time with the hit television show Suburgatory. This quaint town is anything, but quiet and the precarious residents never miss a moment to prove just that. Tessa and George Altman most definitely did not assimilate into the community with ease and savoir-faire in season one of this sinfully delightful show, and they still are on shaky ground. But every Wednesday night on ABC viewers get treated to a fun filled journey as if they were a resident of Chatswin as well, and just like resident Dallas -- they are simply tickled pink about it! Whenever I watch Suburbatory I fall in love with a different character eac ...
