Kevin Hart & Will Ferrell Remember Their Terrible 'SNL' Auditions
Huffington Post - almost 2 years
Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart play unwitting friends in the new comedy "Get Hard," but in real life they've gotten along for a while. Ferrell and Hart spoke to HuffPost Entertainment at the South By Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas last weekend about how they met, Ferrell's bizarre initiation tactics for new collaborators and bad "Saturday Night Live" auditions. An edited transcript of the conversation is below. "Get Hard is out on March 27. What is your meet-cute story? Ferrell: We were opposing each other in the NBA Entertainment League basketball game. There used to be this NBA Entertainment League that took place at Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences in Santa Monica, California. If you played for the Lakers, you would be in a full, regulation uniform. Hart: That was the only reason to play in this game. You got the best shit ever. Ferrell: I was like, I want to play in that. Thinking it's truly going to be a mix of actors who know how to play. It's not going ...

Brooke Shields Talks Divorce From Andre Agassi
Huffington Post - over 3 years
Brooke Shields revealed new details about her divorce from tennis player Andre Agassi while co-hosting "The Today Show" Thursday morning. During a segment with celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, Shields gave some insight into her split. "I am divorced," she said. "And mine was fairly quick, and relatively easy, but it’s a very interesting thing because he did say to me 'Be happy that we don’t have children or I would not have made this easy for you.' And therein lies why I’m not there anymore." Shields and Agassi married in May 1997 and divorced just two years later in April 1999. At the time, the couple claimed to be on good terms, and issued a joint statement that declared they had "the utmost love and respect for one another." But when Agassi wrote an autobiography in 2009, he had less than loving things to say about his ex-wife. "I have a thought no man should have on his wedding day... I wish I had a decoy groom to take my place," he wrote. Shields is now married t ...

Brooke Shields: 'I Never Saw The Bag Passed Around'
Huffington Post - about 4 years
After breaking into the film industry at the ripe age of 12 playing a child prostitute in Louis Malle’s "Pretty Baby," Brooke Shields went on to star in feature films and be featured on countless magazine covers. It's safe to say the former child star was also introduced to the wild world of Hollywood very early. In the new issue of Haute Living, Shields reveals that although she entered show business as a child, she was "unfazed" by her risque roles at the time. “I think that the reason why I was unfazed was because there was an innocence to the characters,” Shields explains, adding, “In 'Pretty Baby' the director didn’t want a little Lolita, he wanted an innocent kid and he got that.” Still, critics called the film child pornography and Shields' mom Teri became a target for the negativity. “She kept so much from me,” the now 47-year-old recalls of her mother. “She wanted me to stay a kid for as long as possible, which may seem like a contradiction, but there was thi ...

Brilliant First Trailer for The Campaign with Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis
HeyUGuys.co.uk - almost 5 years
After getting the great first clips earlier this week from upcoming comedy, The Campaign, the first trailer has made its way online and it’s pretty excellent. Everything you’d expect from a partnership of Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis. Jay Roach (Meet the Parents, Austin Powers) is directing from a script co-written by Chris Henchy (The Other Guys) and Shawn Harwell (Eastbound & Down, making his feature debut), with a great cast supporting Ferrell and Galifianakis, including Jason Sudeikis, Sarah Baker, Dylan McDermott, John Lithgow, Brian Cox, and the ever great Dan Aykroyd. “When long-term congressman Cam Brady (Will Ferrell) commits a major public gaffe before an upcoming election, a pair of ultra-wealthy CEOs plot to put up a rival candidate and gain influence over their North Carolina district. Their man: naïve Marty Huggins (Zach Galifianakis), director of the local Tourism Center. At first, Marty appears to be the unlikeliest possible choice but, with the help of h ...

Jay Roach Tackles ‘The Campaign’
Wall Street Journal - almost 5 years
Getty Images Writer/producer Chris Henchy (L) and director Jay Roach arrive at a Warner Bros. Pictures presentation to promote their upcoming movie, “The Campaign” during CinemaCon, the official convention of the National Association of Theatre Owners Jay Roach began his career as a feature filmmaker with the over-the-top “Austin Powers” film franchise. Of late, however, he has focused more on directing political docudramas for HBO, including last month’s 2012 election drama “Game Change.” Roach’s latest project, the political comedy “The Campaign,” is a marriage of his interest in politics and comedy. “The Campaign,” due out in August, stars Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis as two Southern candidates vying to represent their North Carolina district in Congress. Jason Sudeikis and Dylan McDermott co-star as Ferrell and Galifianakis’ campaign managers, respectively. At Warner Bros.’s CinemaCon presentation earlier this week, Roach said he first got the idea for the fil ...

CinemaCon: Jay Roach's 'The Campaign' skewers American politics
LATimes - almost 5 years
Last year, George Clooney presented his rather cynical perspective on the state of American politics with the drama "The Ides of March." This year, director Jay Roach will offer up a film that arguably has an equally jaded viewpoint, but one which aims to express that acrimony through humor. "The Campaign," due out in August, stars Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis as rival politicians campaigning for a seat in Congress from North Carolina. Roach was inspired to work on the film after recent campaigns which featured negative advertising and over-the-top debates. "Truth is even stranger than fiction right now, because the political system is pushing people to such extremes to make a splash," said Roach, who was in Las Vegas this week to promote the comedy at CinemaCon. "It's about who can do the most expensive series of campaign ads to crush your opponent with damning, scandalous facts." To gather material for the screenplay, Roach and writer Chris Henchy have been steadfast a ...
