Barbara Bruno: NFL Game Picks: Predicting Every Week 14 Contest
Huffington Post Sports - about 4 years
In an NFL Weekend marred by tragedy, one player may have changed his course forever. On Sunday, Kansas City quarterback Brady Quinn truly had his finest hour, leading a broken-hearted team to victory. It was also his best personal moment in the national spotlight. If you have been too busy to watch, take a moment. it's worth the time. In his post-game appearance (provided here courtesy of the Wall Street Journal and YouTube), Quinn urged everyone watching to "try to actually help if someone is battling something deeper on the inside than what they are revealing on a day-to-day basis ... When you ask someone how are they are doing, do you really mean it?" If we never hear another word from this young man, he may have had more impact in those few minutes than others will have in their lives. After predicting the success of multiple underdogs in Week 13, what were the two teams that ruined my otherwise stellar week of NFL picks? The favored Jets and the favored Bears. Who kne ...

Jay Cutler Sharp In Win Over Vikings
Huffington Post - over 4 years
CHICAGO — The Chicago Bears got Jay Cutler back from a concussion, only to lose three more stars to injuries. Start with Devin Hester. Add Matt Forte and Charles Tillman to the list, and just for good measure, throw in two starting guards. Consider this a painful win. Cutler threw for 188 yards and a touchdown after missing a game, and the Bears broke it open early in a 28-10 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. The injuries, however, tempered some of the good feelings. Tied with Green Bay for the NFC North lead and just a game ahead of Minnesota (6-5) coming in, the Bears (8-3) grabbed a 25-3 halftime lead thanks to Cutler's pinpoint passing. The defense held Adrian Peterson in check early on, although he finished with 108 yards rushing. Chicago also came away with three more takeaways to increase its total from a league-leading 30 entering the game to 33. The rather easy win came after back-to-back losses to Houston and San Francisco, but ...

Plainfield Teen Sees Hope via Camera Lens
Plainfield Patch - almost 5 years
From an article published in the St. Paul, Minn., Pioneer Press: It was night in Yellowstone National Park, and Chris Spencer was one of the last in his group still awake. Wanting to take a few more photographs before he went to sleep, he walked to a nearby river, set up a camera and shot a 30-second exposure of the water as it flowed through a grassy break in the trees. "The photo looked different from any other I had ever taken," said Spencer, 18, of Plainfield. "It turned out way cooler than I ever thought it would." Spencer's visit to Yellowstone last year was part of a western Wisconsin-based program that uses nature photography to help teenagers deal with behavioral or mental health issues. The program sent teens on four trips to national parks last year, and the resulting photographs have been turned into an exhibit that is on display at the Minnesota state Capitol and will soon travel the country.
