Blondie's Debbie Harry Brings Harmony To The Presidential Election
Huffington Post - 5 months
Blondie’s Debbie Harry has given Monday night’s debate an auto-tuned twist. With help from The Gregory Brothers and bandmate Chris Stein, she transformed the contest between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump into a catchy duet. Check it out in the clip above. Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims — 1.6 billion members of an entire religion — from entering the U.S. type=type=RelatedArticlesblockTitle=Related Coverage + articlesList=579c5db4e4b0693164c178ca,57e8e7efe4b0e28b2b54ca5c,56fc271ee4b083f5c606826f -- This feed and its contents are the property of The Huffington Post, and use is subject to our terms. Amazing Graffiti in Brooklyn, NY
CNN - over 3 years
Last Sunday June 2nd in my search for great graffiti art took me back to Bushwick, Brooklyn for The Bushwick Collective block party. The Bushwick Collective started in 2012 by a local resident artist who asked his friends to paint on the wall of old warehouses on several blocks around St. Nicholas Ave and Troutman St.   This area has become the new Mecca of graffiti similar to the one in Queens called 5PTZ. These murals change all the time. Some may stays for months or years while others may change from week to week. The street party attracted crowds from the neighborhood as well as graffiti lovers from the different boroughs including myself.   I met two artistswho were putting their finish touches while the party was going on. Beau Stanton on his latter painting the Church theme and another artist Franck Duval –Liz Taylor mural-from Paris who was invited to come and paint and was leaving on Monday to go back home to France.   This area of Bushwick is going through a major chan ...

Debbie Harry, Blondie back on the road
San Francisco Chronicle - over 4 years
Debbie Harry, Blondie back on the road From Madonna to Gaga and beyond, Debbie Harry provided the template for smart, rebellious pop singers through the ages with her band, Blondie. Last year, a reconstituted version of the group featuring original members Harry, guitarist Chris Stein and drummer Clem Burke released its ninth studio album, "Panic of Girls." The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, on tour with Devo, play two Bay Area dates this week. The funniest thing about it is I was at the Mercer Hotel taping this thing with Lynn Goldsmith, who is one of the most famous female rock photographers of all time, and when we came out I thought they were yelling, Lynnie! Performing these songs after all this time, do they still mean anything to you, or are you thinking about your dry cleaning when you sing "Heart of Glass"? [...] familiarity hasn't bred contempt? Understandably, audiences want to hear the songs that have a meaning to them from years past. Th ...

Yahoo News - over 4 years
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Blondie and Devo, two pioneering bands of new wave music played different styles during their heyday, but more than three decades later, they've found common ground for an upcoming U.S. tour that vibrates with 1980s nostalgia. Truth & Rumors: Duval, DL3, Janzen compete for spots in U.S. Open
Golf.com - over 4 years
The Olympic torch took a lap through Rory McIlroy's hometown of Hollywood, Northern Island, early this morning.  An omen for the World No. 2?  Maybe not.  But hundreds of pros and top-level amateurs are hoping for something to get them to the Olympic Club for this year's U.S. Open, now just a week and a half away, as Sectional Qualifying tournaments tee off across the country.    Among the hopefuls is Chris Stein, head pro at the Olympic Club, who wishes to log some serious overtime next week. Stein, 49, is playing in today’s Bay Area qualifier for a chance to compete in the national championship on his home track, according to the San Francisco Examiner. He's made it this far once before, falling just short of making the ’85 Open at Oakland Hills. Today, he's hoping for a couple of member's bounces: “Knowing you’ve got a chance — 36 holes from possibly playing in the U.S. Open that you’re the head professional at, it’s quite a thrill,” Stein said. “You don’t get this chanc ...
