TCU’s Cumbie makes UT visit
Houston Chronicle - about 1 year
AUSTIN — TCU quarterbacks coach Sonny Cumbie visited Texas’ football offices with head coach Charlie Strong on Monday, fueling speculation that he’s the front runner to become the Longhorns’ new offensive coordinator. A UT source confirmed Cumbie met with Strong. Orangebloods reported Cumbie, who has shared offensive coordinator duties at TCU for two seasons, was seen arriving at Moncrief-Neuhaus Athletics Center with Strong on Monday morning. After Saturday’s victory over Baylor in UT’s season finale, Strong said he planned to meet with his assistants and evaluate their future roles with the program this week. Although UT has not made any official announcements on the status of Shawn Watson and Joe Wickline, who began the season sharing offensive play-calling duties before being demoted after one game, neither are expected to return next season. The future of wide receivers coach Jay Norvell, who called plays for each of UT’s final 11 games, remains unclear. Cumbie, who played q ...

Big 12 rankings: OU solidifies hold on top spot after Bedlam beatdown
Houston Chronicle - about 1 year
Here’s a look at our next-to-last rankings of the season. Oklahoma took off after a loss to Texas and never looked back.   Oklahoma (11-1, 8-1, regular season concluded) — Sooners look like the nation’s hottest team after notching their largest margin of Bedlam victory in Stillwater since 1971. Their fast finish should have them in the College Football Playoffs or the panel might need a saliva test. TCU (10-2, 7-2, regular season concluded) — Gary Patterson did a masterful job keeping the Horned Frogs together this season with 20 starters missing a combined 103 games. And if Trevone Boykin and Josh Doctson had been healthy throughout, TCU might have won the championship. Baylor (10-2, 7-2, next game Saturday vs. Texas) — The Bears’ offense ground to a halt in the muck at Amon Carter, leaving them just short of a Big 12 three-peat. Coach Art Briles says he’ll recruit more quarterbacks in the future after dropping to his third-stringer for only the second time in his career. ...

The truth may set you free, but it may also be a matter of opinion. This is why I prefer to deal in facts. My version of the truth is that #7 John Cena is a better wrestler than #9 Dolph Ziggler. I know, I know... Ziggler defeated Cena at Tables, Ladders & Chairs; however, Cena got his win back in what can only be described as a spectacular showing on a much hyped episode of Monday Night RAW. How spectacular, you say? Let's make like Chris Warren and Break It Down! Remember When NFL Great Junior Seau Caused Havoc For The Seahawks?
University Place Patch - almost 5 years
The football world is shocked today, following news that authorities found NFL great Junior Seau dead in his home. The former linebacker for the San Diego Chargers was discovered by authorities in his Oceanside, CA home. Police haven't said officially what they believe caused his death, but one report says it was from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. I found this highlight video of Seau on YouTube and it immediately broght back memories that aren't too fond if you're a Seahawks fan. Seau was regularly a menace for Seattle, which at the time was San Diego's divisional foe. The video includes a few shots of Seau hitting former Seahawk running back Chris Warren in the backfield. As a Seahawk fan, I hated seeing Seau. As a football fan, he was fun to watch. He'll be missed.
