The Originals: Can Klaus Pull the Wool Over Marcel's Eyes?
Seattle Pi - over 3 years
Emotions and familial feelings aside, there's also trouble for Klaus considering Marcel has seen - and learned -- all Klaus' tricks. Part of Klaus' plan, which has already hit some bumps, was to stake Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and hand him over to Marcel as a messed up form of trust and collateral. Needless to say, Rebekah (Claire Holt) was furious to learn her favorite brother is stuck in a coffin in the attic of her one-time lover Marcel and his freakishly powerful teenage secret weapon Davina (Danielle Campbell). While both stubborn siblings know that they're more powerful together than apart, they'll continue to bump heads in an effort to take back their brother. You'll see a lot of their love and resentment and 1,000 years of pain and conflict, Morgan says. [...] how Elijah will feel when he's un-daggererd? "I suppose Elijah would've liked to be let in on the plan before he became a part of it that way," Morgan says. Or will they face an even bigger threat that causes them ...

'The Originals' Recap: 'House Of The Rising Son'
MTV News - over 3 years
by Ryan J. Downey Man, last night sure put the "origin" in "The Originals"! Plus, two very important secrets were revealed. Now we know Marcel's backstory! Plus we learned about Klaus' master plan to take back New Orleans, even as Klaus learned about Marcel's secret weapon that gives his former protege control over the town's witches, vampires and law enforcement types. Let's begin by breaking down the episode's title, shall we? "House of the Rising Son" most likely refers to two different things. One of them involves the relationship between Klaus and "The Originals" Big Bad Marcel. It turns out Klaus wasn't just a mentor, he was a father figure! In a flashback we were introduced to Marcel as a young boy, who was saved from a cruel whipping thanks to a well placed vampiric toss of an apple that knocked a wicked slave master from his horse (and from this plane of existence). Klaus saw something of himself in the young boy: a cast aside loner who nevertheless is a survivor. ...

'The Originals' Premiere: Joseph Morgan On Klaus' Weakness And His Fanboy Side
Huffington Post - over 3 years
NEW YORK -- NEW YORK (AP) — The big, bad villain on the CW's "The Vampire Diaries" is getting his own series. Joseph Morgan first appeared during season two as Klaus Mikaelson, one of the world's first vampires, who is also half-werewolf. He was a series regular in the third and fourth seasons. "I love it," said the 32-year-old Morgan. "It's been one of the most fun characters I've ever played." Fans loved Morgan's Klaus and his fellow vampire family members. They were making YouTube videos about the clan before the spinoff was announced. In "The Originals," Klaus moves to New Orleans after being away for about a hundred years and wants to take over the city, now ruled by his protege vampire, Marcel. Morgan, who is joined on the series by "Vampire Diaries" cast members Daniel Gilles, Claire Holt and Phoebe Tonkin, says "The Originals" is darker in tone than its predecessor. The show premieres Thursday (9 p.m. EDT), but will begin airing in its regular Tuesday time slot (8 p.m. ...

'Ironside,' 'The Originals' new dramas on TV
San Francisco Chronicle - over 3 years
The pilot tells us how Ironside lost the use of his legs through a series of flashbacks showing him getting shot while on a case with his partner, Gary Stanton (Brent Sexton, "The Killing"). The character exposition is set against the supposed suicide of a beautiful young woman who had worked in an investment firm. Good supporting castUnderwood is OK, if a little too hungry to chew the scenery, but the supporting cast is very good, including Sexton as the other "victim" of the shooting, who feels guilty for not having his partner's back; TV's busiest character actor, Pablo Schreiber ("Orange Is the New Black"), as one of Ironside's team; Spencer Grammer ("Greek") as brainy and beautiful cop Holly; and Kenneth Choi ("House") as the captain whose primary job is to tell Ironside to follow the rules. The Originals" is about actual vampires, not to mention witches and hybrids - that would be a werewolf-vampire mix, not a Toyota Prius - and it's a spinoff from another CW hit, "The Vampire ...

IT'S HAPPENING!
Huffington Post - almost 4 years
"The Originals" has been picked up for a full season! "The Vampire Diaries" spinoff, which aired its backdoor pilot on Thursday night, will join its parent show, "Supernatural," "Arrow," "Beauty and the Beast" and "Hart of Dixie" for The CW's 2013-2014 TV season. "As soon as we saw last night's episode of ''The Vampire Diaries,' we knew we wanted more of 'The Originals' -- Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson have done a fantastic job with 'The Vampire Diaries,' which is as fast-paced and well-written as ever, and Julie has created an equally compelling world for 'The Originals,'" Mark Pedowitz, president of The CW, said in a statement on "The Originals" series order. The CW's decision to pick up "The Originals" is not particularly surprising, considering the success of "The Vampire Diaries." However, the pilot did not impress in the ratings. "The Originals" follows "The Vampire Diaries" characters Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) ...

'Feeling No Pain. And It's Torture'
Huffington Post - almost 4 years
On "The Vampire Diaries," Elena (Nina Dobrev) has been wreaking some serious havoc on Mystic Falls ever since she turned off her humanity. And it looks like things are going to get worse. Last week, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan's (Paul Wesley) efforts to bring some emotion back to the once overly-empathetic Elena failed miserably, but if The CW's new ad for the May 16th finale is any indication, she's not feeling anything any time soon. Below, check out The Huffington Post's exclusive first look at the "Vampire Diaries" May sweeps ad, which features Elena and reads, "Feeling no pain. And it's torture." After this week's episode, "The Originals," which serves as the backdoor pilot for "The Vampire Diaries" spinoff, there are only three episodes left in Season 4. Though there's no episode description for the finale, titled "Graduation," yet, showrunner Julie Plec teased to TVLine, "There’s going to be a lot of questions about, ‘Who am I? 'Vampire Diaries' Star: 'Season 4 Is A Game Changer'
Huffington Post - over 4 years
The Vampire Diaries" (Season 4 premieres Thurs., Oct. 11 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW) left viewers on edge with the knowledge that Elena (Nina Dobrev) is now what she's long tried to avoid -- a vampire -- and things in Mystic Falls will never be the same. In the "Vampire Diaries" Season 3 finale, Elena told Stefan (Paul Wesley) to save her friend and ex-boyfriend Matt's (Zach Roerig) life, after the two got in a car crash -- thanks to Rebekah (Claire Holt) -- leaving them at the bottom of the same body of water where Elena's parents died and in the same fashion. In Season 4, a lot obviously changes, not only for Elena. "'Vampire Diaries' will forever be different after Season 4," Roerig told HuffPost TV via phone. Below, the actor who plays Mystic Fall's lone human talks about the debt Matt feels he owes to Elena (and letting her feed on him), his volatile relationship with Damon (Ian Somerhalder), which character he hopes to have aggressive sex with, new love interests and ...
