Richard Lee Griffith, of St. Charles, died Monday, April 23, 2012, at Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva.
He was born Oct. 23, 1926, in Chicago, the son of Clay and Ruth (nee Caulfield) Griffith.
He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Weeks on Sept. 20, 1953, in Rockford, IL.
Mr. Griffith proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He worked for the Illinois Department of Revenue as a collection supervisor from 1983 to 1991.
He was a member of Baker Memorial United Methodist Church, having served in many capacities from superintendent of Sunday School, Christian Education Council, and church offering counter for more than 20 years. In 1964, the Griffith family was selected “Family of the Year.
Mr. Griffith also served on the St. Charles Township Cemetery Board for 30 years and participated in the Salvation Army Meals on Wheels for more than 20 years. He was a past president of the St. Charles Jaycees and was selected “Jaycee of the Year” 1962-1963
