Queens Men Arrested for Using Counterfeit Money

Two Queens men were arrested for passing counterfeit U.S. currency while shopping at Lord & Taylor at 1440 Northern Blvd. in Manhasset, Nassau County Sixth Precinct Detectives said.
The Crimes Against Property Squad detectives arrested William Zuleta, 21, of 2117 Francis Lewis Blvd., in Whitestone, Queens, on Thursday on Jamaica Ave. in Queens. Police had arrested Andrew Surgenor, 22, of 2370 A Corp Kennedy St., in Bayside, Queens, on January 23 at his home.
Police say that the alleged crime had occured on November 12, 2011, at 4:20 p.m.
The two men used 23 counterfeit $20 bills to make a purchase and then a short time later returned the item, receiving U.S. currency from the return.
The men were each charged with four counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument.
Surgenor was arraigned on Jan. 24. Zuleta was scheduled to be arraigned on Friday at First District Court, Hempstead.
