'UnREAL' Set To Return To Lifetime For Season 2 This Summer
Huffington Post - about 1 year
"UnREAL," one of our favorite shows to debut in 2015, is set to return to Lifetime for its second season this summer. According to a press release from the network, production is set to begin in March.  Shiri Appleby and Constance Zimmer will reprise their respective roles as reality TV producers Rachel Goldberg and Quinn King. When we left the two at the end of Season 1, they'd succeeded in sabotaging "Everlasting," the "Bachelor-"like reality series the show revolves around. Rachel and Quinn came away from the season with no one but each other.  "I love you. You know that, right?" Rachel told Quinn. "I love you, too ... weirdo," Quinn responded.  Come Season 2, we're sure to see just as much (or maybe more) controversy unravel on the "Everlasting" set.   For starters, the fictitious reality show casts its first-ever black bachelor, Darius Hill. We'll also get a slew of new suitors, including Yael, an "upscale hipster," Tiffany, "a daddy’s girl and football player’ ...

Yvonna Russell: Showbiz Goes High Tech
Huffington Post - about 4 years
My bestie called to ask me about getting back into show business. She has national commercial credits and was an Elite fashion model. But a lot has changed from the days when we went on foot to agents' offices, checked our answering machines on a pay phone and picked up sides in person. (Wow, I am old.) Show business, the last of the handshake businesses, has gone high tech. Everybody has a smartphone or you can't compete. An agent or casting director should be able to communicate with you ASAP. Your phone should also have your headshot, résumé in PDF, composite and reel on point. Producers and directors look at reels and resumes for talent round the clock thereby a website and/or web page is essential. For Full Metal Jacket, director Stanley Kubrick placed ads for actors to submit audition tapes. This has now become a standard industry practice. Having a good HD handheld camera for audition submissions when requested or to create your own content is an advantage. B ...

Robert J. Elisberg: Seth MacFarlane Has No Trouble at All
Huffington Post - about 4 years
The BBC Proms are a legendary British tradition. They began in 1895 as a festival of outdoor summer concerts that featured classical music -- some light, but mostly serious. They're now largely done at the Royal Albert Hall and a few non-classical nights slip in some for the family (Wallace & Grommit had an evening this past year), and some might be with popular music or Broadway. Though they do tend to be "orchestral based." The season winds up with Proms in the Park. This video comes for the Proms of this past summer, 2012. It's an actor performing "Ya Got Trouble" from The Music Man. No big deal, of course, the song has been done hundreds of times. Robert Preston, of course, originated the role of 'Harold Hill' on Broadway and won a Tony Award for it, before recreating his legendary performance for the movie. The great Dick Van Dyke toured the country with the show and then took it to the City Center in New York. When the musical had a full-fledged revival ...

Elementary: Are Craig Bierko and Molly Price Murderers?
Boom Tron - over 4 years
The fall season’s new Sherlock Holmes series, Elementary, is sure to bring in a number of curious viewers based purely on its premise – I’ll get to that in a bit – but more is needed beyond a quirky set up. For a Sherlock Holmes show to work you need very interesting guest characters to highlight the various cases Sherlock will have to crack. A sure fire way to go about finding the absolute best is to pluck the most memorable actors and actresses from other shows. The fourth episode of the freshman series has done just that by snagging Craig Bierko and Molly Price of Boston Legal and Third Watch respectively. As reported by TVLine, Bierko will be playing Fowkes, the imposing CEO of a big time Wall Street financial firm. He’ll be involved in a murder investigation because, well, this is a Sherlock Holmes story. There’s almost always a murder. And Price will be right by his side as his Donna, Fowkes’ trusted executive secretary. Are either of them actually involved in a murder? Who k ...

The Three Stooges: nasty, brutish, and short. by Ben Coleman THERE'S AN INEXPLICABLE disclaimer at the end of The Three Stooges, in which the Farrelly brothers alert the audience about the perils of poking people in the eyeball. It's just fun and games and movie sleight of hand, so don't actually poke people in the eye! Fair enough, Brothers Farrelly. Fair enough. I don't think impressionable children running around poking eyes out is going to be a huge issue, though, as The Three Stooges is not a film for children. No child alive gives two shits about 60-year-old black-and-white movie serials. This is a film made for children by nostalgic adults who can no longer remember what children do or like. If you are a nostalgic adult, this movie may entertain you, but you're going to have to wade through some reality TV references and an extremely inept explanation of what Facebook is. The Stooges themselves are one Wayans brother away from a TV ...
