9 Beach Destinations to Visit This Winter
Huffington Post - about 1 year
Jean-Marie Hullot/ Flickr With winter just around the corner, many of us are already itching to escape the cool air and retreat to a warm-weather locale with powdery sands and swaying palms. From the colorful coral reefs of the Maldives to the unspoiled sands of Seychelles, these nine picturesque spots are ideal places to unwind and thaw out this winter. Kauai, Hawaii Along Kauai's rugged Na Pali coast you'll find the isolated Honopu Beach. Only accessible by kayak, boat or helicopter, Honopu Beach is especially enticing for beachgoers looking to get off the grid. If you would rather get your heart racing with a challenging hike than enjoy the coastal views from the sand, trek along the 11-mile Kalalau Trail, which packs in plenty of jaw-dropping vistas of the north shore. See: 6 of the Best Secret Beaches in the U.S. Bali Beneath black volcanic rocks on the eastern side of the Bukit Peninsula you'll find Nusa Dua, a tranquil public beach filled with pristine sands ...

The Rise and Rise of Caroline D'Amore
Huffington Post - about 1 year
Caroline D'Amore was born and raised in sunny Southern California, but she's not your run-of-the-mill California Girl. A mix of old-Hollywood glamor with new Hollywood hunger, the girl's got chops. Her latest release on Republic Records, "Come to California", features National Anthem. "I was the girl dancing on tables," D'Amore states of her younger years. Then she met and befriended DJ AM and quickly jumped off of the dance floor and into the DJ booth where she had one goal in mind. To make people move. "The first song I wrote that anyone ever heard was a song called "Music Man", she recalls. It was a song she wrote after meeting Bobby Alt (who is now her husband). She produced the song with Stonebridge and it went to number 1 on the Beatport Charts. You can here the song here (https://soundcloud.com/stonebridge/stonebridge-caroline-damore). She's worked with Robbie Rivera, remixed for Rod Stewart, and appeared as the DJ in the Music video for the Jessie J, Ariana Grande ...

Cycladic Island Living
Huffington Post - over 1 year
Image courtesy ds-tma The Cycladic islands are the reason why most people's first reaction to the statement, "I'm going to Greece," is, "Take me with you!" Can they be blamed? After all, this is the tranquil destination of myth and legend that's resided in the minds of wander-lusting daydreamers and true-life travelers alike for the past few centuries. And for good reason... Can anything be more idyllic? Picture it: pristine, whitewashed buildings, sundrenched beaches and spectacularly deep blue, clear-as-crystal waters. Not even the international news media's focus and seemingly great delight these past few years on the negative plagues of the country (i.e. subversively unbuttoned, rumple-clothed politicians and rightfully disgruntled, demonstrating citizens) have managed to dampen most people's love affair with this small island group in the Aegean archipelago. A Chat With Legendary Master Chef, Nobu Matsuhisa
Huffington Post - over 1 year
Early evening was a perfect and peaceful time to visit the leafy environs of the Belvedere Hotel where Matsuhisa Mykonos is housed. The fragile powder blue of the twilight was whispily accentuated with a delicate pink. The glazed white metallic pendant lights, designed by David Rockwell and Clark Johnson , swung gently in the breeze and the mature, fat trunked palms provided gentle shade from the still warm setting sun. Its rays still glinted in the crystal waters below in the harbour of Mykonos town. I didn't have to wait long for the celebrity chef to appear. Nobu is slim, fit and his face has a certain symmetrical, smooth attraction. His stride as he walked towards me suggested agility of body and mind. Eugenia Chandris: Nobusan, it is an honour and a pleasure to interview you for the Huffington Post Greece and especially for its Thalassa section which I founded and which has been on line since June 1st featuring all things to do with the sea. I must start out by asking yo ...

St Kitts sends the world a musical invitation
Huffington Post - over 3 years
By turns sumptuous and seductively shabby, St Kitts - or Saint Christopher's Island - has seen a surge in global interest thanks to its increasingly popular annual music festival The scattering of former British, French and Dutch island territories that form the Eastern Caribbean are bucket list destinations for many; but without a specific reason to visit, they can remain just that. It was the music festival on St Kitts that happily proved the catalyst for my first foray there, drawing thousands of visitors every year from neighbouring islands and the wider world. The 17th St Kitts music festival saw the capital Bassettere's Warner Park cricket stadium jam-packed with revellers, known in the islands as 'limers', taking in dozens of acts from local rap, soca and reggae artists to international superstars. The three-day party culminated in spectacular form with none other than Lionel Richie taking to the stage and telling fans: "Sugar City, I don't know why it has taken me so lon ...

Travel review: Maldives - First-class hospitality in a sun worshipper’s paradise
Yorkshire Evening Post - over 4 years
Beth Littler flies to Moofushi in the Indian Ocean. The sound of the tiny aircraft’s engines whirs in my ears and a warm tropical breeze drifts in through the window. I feel like I’ve stepped into the lifestyle of the rich and famous. In some ways, I suppose I have... I’m heading to Moofushi in the Maldives – a collection of islands in the middle of the Indian Ocean – renowned for being utter paradise. Following a ten-hour flight from the UK to Male, the region’s capital and largest city, I am making the final leg of my journey in a small sea plane. It only takes 20 minutes and, glancing through the windows, my pulse quickens as Moofushi comes into view. From the sky the pristine stretch of sand – the size of two football pitches – looks impossibly elegant. Wooden villa roofs stretch out over the heavenly turquoise blue water surrounding the island, cobbled with golden sandbanks, woodlands and lagoons. Moofushi, amid the many Maldivian atolls, is the ultimate ‘get away from it al ...

Travel: Fiji
Scotsman - almost 5 years
ONCE occupied by cannibals, Fiji is these days home to one of the warmest welcomes on the planet I PICTURED Fiji blessed with white sandy beaches, swaying coconut palms, soft tickling sea breezes and pristine turquoise waters. A tropical paradise. I imagined walking hand-in-hand at sunset along a deserted island cove after a romantic dinner overlooking the Pacific. Then I remembered that I was heading to one of the world’s top honeymoon destinations alone. Cue violins. Not one to wallow, I’d heard Fijians were welcoming hosts, great storytellers and incredibly friendly, so I hoped my solo visit wouldn’t be so lonely after all. But only time would tell. En route from the airport, my driver offered a short Fijian history lesson. I was taken back 150 years, when missionaries wrote stories of gruesome behaviour from islands inhabited by cannibals. With a jolt I was back in the present day and receiving a warm greeting from islanders at the Mercure Nadi hotel. Only 15 minutes from Denar ...

The track reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100, and found even more success in Europe, reaching #2 on the UK Singles Chart, and #1 in the Netherlands and Switzerland. Scarcely a year after its release, a new version turned up on the Red Hot Organization's Red Hot + Dance AIDS fundraiser disc (1992, distributed by Sony Music), gaining its remixer (Joey Negro) his first real American exposure.
