Laurie Hernandez Proves She's (Kinda) Like Your Average Teen
Huffington Post - about 1 month
Laurie Hernandez is just like your average 16 year old. The gymnast paid Ellen DeGeneres a visit on Thursday to talk about her new memoir, I Got This: To Gold and Beyond. But the New Jersey native also shared some of the simple teen-type things she’d like to do this year.  After telling DeGeneres about the awkwardly prominent placement of her “Dancing With The Stars’” Mirrorball Trophy at home, she admitted that after such a busy year she wants to take it easy in 2017. Hernandez said two things she wants to do in the new year is go on her first date and get her driver’s license. When the host asked her about how she’s planning to get that first date, the gymnast admitted she wasn’t sure. “I don’t have a plan,” Hernandez said. “If he looks like Dave Franco then it’s fine.”   Yup, Hernandez is just like any other teen ― well, minus the whole winning multiple Olympic medals and a celebrity dance competition, and writing a memoir before she’s old enough t ...

A Quesadilla Was All The Motivation Laurie Hernandez Needed To Get Through Her 'DWTS' Tango
Huffington Post - 5 months
Laurie Hernandez has never been in a relationship, but the 16-year-old is hardly lacking for inspiration when she needs to find motivation some of the “sexy” routines she pulls off on “Dancing with the Stars.”  On Monday, the Olympic gymnast appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” with her dance partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, and out-charmed just about everyone. When host Ellen DeGeneres asked how she manages to get into character for some of the more sensual routines, Hernandez, who noted she’s “never had a boyfriend,” agreed it can be quite difficult.  “When we were talking about tango, I had to reference ‘The Notebook,’ or ‘Finding Nemo’ ― like, how did the father feel when Nemo was gone?” Chmerkovskiy said as the crowd laughed.  Right before she performed the tango on the show, Hernandez said she had a lightbulb moment.  “I was like, I have to channel me smelling a quesadilla right before I get up there,” she explained. “That’s the only way this is going to ...

It makes sense that Cara Delevingne plays Enchantress in “Suicide Squad,” because her raps are straight up magic. On Wednesday, the actress took out both Dave Franco and James Corden during a rap battle on “The Late Late Show.” It all pretty much came down to one line from Delevingne that was hot fire: You’re both shorter than me, and I think that you’ll find, I’ve hooked up with hotter girls than both of you combined.  “All true statements,” Franco said. The crowd was loving it. Franco and Corden did their best, but there was no recovery. Someone please get these guys some aloe. They just got burned. Alison Brie Joining James Franco's 'The Disaster Artist' (Exclusive)
Yahoo News - about 1 year
The Disaster Artist is now even more of a family affair for brothers James and Dave Franco. Alison Brie, who is Dave Franco’s fiancee, is in negotiations to join the growing cast of New Line’s making-of movie about the 2003 drama The Room, widely considered one of the worst pics of all time. James Franco is directing the movie as well as starring in it with Dave and Seth Rogen. The film began shooting in Los Angeles this week. James Franco will portray the eccentric Tommy Wiseau, helmer and star of The Room, which has developed a strong cult following, including among celebrities who loved it in a "so bad, it's good" way. Wiseau had no filmmaking experience when he set out to write, direct and produce the pic, which centers on a man named Johnny whose fiancee, Lisa, cheats on him with his best friend, Mark. Pretty Much Every Young Male Actor Is Auditioning To Play Han Solo
Huffington Post - about 1 year
The search for a new Han Solo is rapidly becoming America's biggest thirst trap.  According to The Hollywood Reporter, an astonishing 2,500 actors are auditioning to play a young Solo in Phil Lord and Christopher Miller's upcoming, as-yet-untitled "Star Wars" spinoff movie, which is slated for release in May 2018. We're not talking about randos lining up outside the Disney lot here. At least not exclusively. Many of the hottest (young, white, male) actors in Hollywood are gunning for the part: Miles Teller, Logan Lerman, Dave Franco, Ansel Elgort, Ed Westwick, Rami Malek, Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Even Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in the "Harry Potter" movies!  The plot of the movie -- which Lord and Miller are playfully referring to as "Red Cup," as in, you know, Solo cups -- is as yet a tightly kept secret. All we know so far is that it's an origin story for Han Solo.  But it's not hard to figure out why so many actors want the role. Playing Han Solo in 1977's "Star ...

MTV Movie Awards 2015 Winners List: 'The Fault In Our Stars' & Shailene Woodley Take Home Top Honors
Huffington Post - almost 2 years
What could we need more than yet another award show? How about an award show featuring nominated performances and moments from movies that have a 23 percent ("The Other Woman"), 29 percent ("Annabelle") and 35 percent ("Horrible Bosses 2") rating on Rotten Tomatoes. But this is the 2015 MTV Movie Awards, which is not to be confused with those other award shows where the average voter is a 63-year-old white man. Nope, these are cool, hip and so very edgy awards. Just ask MTV. Comedian Amy Schumer hosted the 24th annual celebration of box office hits and YA adaptations, and anticipated that people would be "mad" when it's all said and done -- so we knew things were off to a great start. While prestige award-winners "Boyhood" and "Birdman" were thrown a bone with a couple nominations, "The Fault In Our Stars" won Movie of the Year, and Shailene Woodley won Best Female Performance and MTV's Trailblazer Award.
