Celebrities And Activists Share Letters #ToImmigrantsWithLove On Twitter
Huffington Post - 6 days
Dozens of people on Twitter are writing digital and handwritten love letters for Valentine’s Day, and they’re signing them with #ToImmigrantsWithLove. The letter writing campaign was first launched in December by Define American, a non-profit pro-immigrant organization, and Welcome.us’ I Am An Immigrant movement. On Tuesday, the campaign revived their hashtag for what they’re calling a Day of Action.  The organizations asked supporters to show solidarity with immigrants by recording a video on their website or by writing letters and sharing them on social media using the hashtag #ToImmigrantsWithLove. “There’s never been a more important time in modern U.S. history to stand in solidarity with immigrants across our country,” undocumented activist Jose Antonio Vargas, founder and CEO of Define American, said in a press release. “This campaign comes at a crucial time not only for millions of immigrants who call America home but for the millions of American citizens and permanent ...

Rihanna 'Disgusted' By Donald Trump's Attempt To Block Muslims From Entering U.S.
Huffington Post - 22 days
Rihanna is the latest star to add her voice to the conversation surrounding Donald Trump’s recent executive order, which temporarily banned all refugees from entering the U.S. and temporarily banned travelers entering the country from seven Muslim-majority nations.  On Saturday, the pop star tweeted her disgust for the action, which also bars Syrian refugees indefinitely.  “This is devastating!” she wrote, seemingly referring to the president as “an immoral pig.”  Disgusted! The news is devastating! America is being ruined right before our eyes! What an immoral pig you have to be to implement such BS!! — Rihanna (@rihanna) January 29, 2017 That same night, a federal judge in Brooklyn, New York, put a temporary halt on parts of Trump’s executive order. Thousands of demonstrators gathered to protest the travel ban at airports across the country. Ellen Recruits Hollywood's Biggest LGBTQ Stars To Pay Tribute To Obama
Huffington Post - about 1 month
Ellen DeGeneres followed up her heartfelt goodbye to Barack Obama with a little help from her A-list friends on Friday.  Neil Patrick Harris, Laverne Cox, Jonathan Groff and Evan Rachel Wood are just a few of the LGBTQ stars to thank the former president for his administration’s acknowledgement of the queer community in a video segment that will air on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Friday. Allies like Debra Messing, Macklemore and Drew Barrymore get in on the fun, too, tipping their hat to the outgoing president’s administration for repealing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” supporting marriage equality and other pro-LGBTQ efforts.  “You presided over a period of time that turned out to be, in many ways, one of the most positive periods of time ever in the lives of gay Americans,” Jim Parsons says in the clip, which can be viewed above. Wood, who is bisexual, echoed those sentiments, thanking Obama for “changing the way that people thought about us, and honestly, the way I ...

From Kimye vs. Taylor to Kimye vs. Bette Midler: The best celebrity feuds of 2016
Yahoo News - about 2 months
For a lot of us, famous and normals alike, 2016 was a narrative we would like to be excluded from and that we never asked to be a part of.  But if nothing else, it was a great year for celebrity gossip. Thanks to social media, egos and impulse control had a banner year — for better and most certainly for worse. Here are the best celebrity feuds of a very petty year. 6. Selena Gomez vs. Justin Bieber Image: darren calabres/AP Jelena is over, but the wounds haven't healed. Gomez defended Beliebers that were upset by a series of photos Bieber Instagrammed of his girl of the moment, Sofia Richie, commenting, "If you can't handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol." Bieber responded writing, "It's funny to see people that used me for attention and still try to point the finger this way. Sad. All love." Eventually, Gomez Snapchatted an apology, because feuds are now a cross-platform affair.  Bieber eventually deleted his Instagram account and Gomez went on a social me ...

Cast Of 'Will & Grace' Reportedly In Talks For Ten-Episode Revival
Huffington Post - 4 months
Grab a bottle of vodka and a bowl of popcorn, because “Will & Grace” could be coming back to television (or laptop screen) near you!  Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Megan Mullally and Sean Hayes are all in early talks for a 10-episode revival of the hit show that originally ran from 1998 to 2006, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Evidently, eight seasons of the Emmy-winning sitcom just weren’t enough for fans, who collectively freaked out when the gang got together for a mini-reunion episode in September. The 10 minute video garnered 6.2 million views, signaling that viewers are still very, very invested in Will, Grace, Jack and Karen.  The four stars, along with series creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick, haven’t officially signed on to do anything yet ― and there’s always the chance that talks could fall through. But Debra Messing told THR back in September that she would “never say never” to a revival. And it sounds l ...

Thomas Haden Church Plunges Happily Into the Underexplored Area of Divorce Humor for HBO
Huffington Post - 5 months
HBO's Divorce isn't the kind of television comedy for which Thomas Haden Church remains best-known, and he couldn't be happier about that. "I did 10 years of sitcoms that were punchline, punchline, punchline," he says. "I wanted something different." Divorce, which premieres Sunday at 10 p.m. ET, is that. Church and Sarah Jessica Parker play Robert and Frances, a long-married suburban couple with two school-age children, Lila (Sterling Jerins) and Tom (Charlie Kilgore). When we meet Robert and Frances, they are about to split up. As anyone who has had first-, second- or 28th-hand experience with divorce knows, that's not the premise for a traditional laff riot. But then, Divorce creator Sharon Horgan seems partial to dark comedies, including her current BBC/Amazon Prime series Catastrophe. Parker picked Divorce for her own return to HBO, also in a rather different role than when she played Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City. The 56-year-old Church is pr ...
