'Snatch' Trailer Basically Shows What Would Happen If Ron Weasley Was A Slytherin
Huffington Post - about 2 months
Ron needs to sort out his priorities. In Crackle’s new trailer for “Snatch,” former “Harry Potter” star Rupert Grint dives into a different kind of role. The series, based on the Guy Ritchie movie of the same name and inspired by a real-life London heist, centers on a group of 20-something hustlers who are suddenly thrust into the world of organized crime. Bloody hell, Ron! Grint is executive producing and starring in the first season, comprising 10 one-hour episodes. Joining him are Luke Pasqualino (“Skins”), Lucien Laviscount (“Scream Queens”), Dougray Scott (“Fear the Walking Dead”), Phoebe Dynevor (“The Village”), Juliet Aubrey (”The Infiltrator”) and Ed Westwick (“Gossip Girl”).  “Snatch” is basically what would happen if Ron got sorted into Slytherin, which does sound like magic. You can stream “Snatch” March 16 on Crackle. -- This feed and its contents are the property of The Huffington Post, and use is subject to our terms. I ...

ABC Orders The Muppets and Ken Jeong Comedies, Oil Boom, '80s L.A. Crime, FBI Dramas, and More
Yahoo News - almost 2 years
If you like days when networks pick up new shows, then today was your favorite day ever. Networks got a headstart on the Upfronts by ordering several new shows, and ABC just made the biggest order of them all! The Alphabet added three new comedies and six new dramas to its 2015-2016 season, including a reboot of The Muppets and another Shonda Rhimes drama. Stay busy, girl! Let's start with the comedies before things get too serious. The Muppets follows the personal lives of Jim Henson's lovable puppets in and out of the show that made them famous in a documentary-style presentation. We'll be witness to their love lives, professional aspirations, and everything in between. It's billed as a more adult take on The Muppets, but also kid friendly. Ummm, okay! Dr. Ken stars Community's Ken Jeong as a brilliant doctor with terrible bedside manner. But that's not all! He's also a husband and father of two, and he has a propensity for driving those around him crazy. Suzy Nakamura, Tisha-Campbel ...

15 TV Pilots We Hope Get Made Into Series (2015 Edition)
Yahoo News - almost 2 years
The annual network Upfronts are practically here (NBC kicks things off May 11), which means the big networks will make huge decisions that will affect the rest of your life: by deciding what we'll get to watch on TV in the 2015-2016 season. Cancellations and renewals are just around the corner, and we're too nervous to even think about those right now, but the good news is that Upfronts also signal that final push in the birthing of new television shows. (One has already started.) The circle of TV life! But which television pilots should networks choose to populate their new schedule? It's a difficult decision for any stuffy network suit, but I'm here to point them in the right direction because I have can't-miss taste and know how to pick a winner. Below I've chosen 15 pilots that I'd like to see get made and thrown on next season's television schedule, and where available, created a state-of-the-art artist's interpretation of what the show might look like. As always, a few things bef ...

Supernatural Comic Series 'Locke & Key' Getting Big-Screen Adaptation
MTV News - over 3 years
Supernatural comic book series "Locke & Key" was being eyed for a TV adaptation, but word from THR indicates the project is now headed to the big screen. Joe Hill — who also happens to be Stephen King's son and just released a new novel, "NOS4A2" — wrote the series, which centers on the Locke children. After their father is brutally murdered, the family moves into their ancestral home, the Keyhouse. They discover the house contains secrets and magical keys that unlock incredible powers. But there is a dark force lurking there that wants the family to open a door that could destroy everything good in their world. Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and Bobby Cohen will produce the adaptation with Ted Adams, CEO and publisher of IDW Publishing, the company behind the comic book. People like Steven Spielberg have been fighting to get the project adapted for the past several years. Hilda Benard: Space Travelers, Psychics & The 'Ordinary Girl'
Huffington Post - almost 4 years
Note: Do not read on if you have not yet seen Season 7, Episode 9 of BBC America's "Doctor Who," titled "Hide." As much as I hate to admit it, the second half of "Doctor Who" Season 7 isn't going as well as I hoped it would, and the latest episode -- which at first struck me as a mix of "Scooby-Doo" and "Ghost Hunters" -- was about to go into the pile of disappointing episodes if it wasn't for a few significant scenes involving Clara. But before I get into that, here's your recap: The Doctor and Clara arrived at Caliburn House in 1974 where retired spy/war hero Professor Alec Palmer tried to make contact with the ghost of the Witch of the Well that was haunting his house. He used his assistant, empathic psychic Emma Grayling, to reach out to the ghost and release her. He and Emma also happened to be in love, but Prof. Palmer didn't admit his feelings because he felt guilty about stuff that happened during the war and he was haunted by those memories. Once the Doctor and ...

'Hemlock Grove': Darkness Is Coming
Huffington Post - almost 4 years
At the foot of a sweeping grand staircase in the foyer of an imposing early 20th century mansion, Famke Janssen is stoically explaining what's going to happen next to Bill Skarsgard as he fights back tears. The two are filming a scene of "Hemlock Grove," the epic new Netflix series helmed by horror-master Eli Roth. The show is based on Brian McGreevy's novel of the same name, and follows two teenage boys (Skarsgard and "Degrassi" alum Landon Liboiron) at the center of a murder mystery in a creepy small town full of supernatural elements. Its horror-esque approach and broad mix of supernatural beings may sound a lot like "True Blood" (which stars Skarsgard's older brother Alexander), but "Hemlock" is carving its own path. "We started by casting an entirely different Skarsgard," jokes McGreevy, who serves as an executive producer on the show. Janssen plays Skarsgard's mother, the matriarch of the wealthy and powerful Godfrey family. Dougray Scott is her husband, Norma ...

Scott Mendelson: On the 'Morality' of Cinematic Action-Movie Massacres
Huffington Post - almost 4 years
There is a moment at around the 20-minute mark of Olympus Has Fallen (review) where a giant airplane piloted by evil North Koreans shoots down an American fighter jet which then crashes not in the water or in an empty parking lot, but smack-dab into a suburban home.  Considering the time of day the scene takes place, there's a pretty good chance whomever lived there was probably home at the time and was instantly burned to a crisp.  That moment would have jolting enough, but the attack sequence that kicks off the plot goes on for a good 20 minutes, offering countless innocent bystanders being bloodily gunned down in the streets, along with others being crushed by falling monuments and blown up by various explosions set off during the White House siege.  This isn't even counting the bazillion Secret Service agents who are slaughtered in the attack sequence, including a moment where enemy soldiers walk around the White House plugging wounded agents in the head (onscreen) ...

Junk TV Round-Up – PERCEPTION, HEMLOCK GROVE, DAMAGES, THE CLOSER
Boom Tron - over 4 years
Premiering tonight on TNT is Perception, the next in a long line of procedurals where a by-the-book law enforcement agent is paired with a nutty nut-nut who brings a new perspective to cases and helps us learn to laugh about love again (The X-Files, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, even House–you get the idea).  In the case of Perception, we have late-’90s sweetface Rachael Leigh Cook, a name I’ve given little thought to since I worked at a video store in my early 20s.  I can’t really form an opinion on her, therefore (not that that’s ever stopped me), but given that Anna Chlumsky has managed through Veep to get me to take her seriously, I don’t see why Cook couldn’t do the same.  As her outside-the-box partner is Eric McCormack as a schizophrenic yet brilliant professor of neuroscience.  McCormack is most well-known of course for his titular role on Will & Grace, but I always thought the guy was a bit wasted on a sit-c0m, even an above-average one like that.  TNT has been tryin ...
