WATCH: Lakers Legends Remember Jerry Buss
Huffington Post Sports - about 4 years
Remembered as a renaissance man, a father figure and a visionary, Dr. Jerry Buss was honored at a memorial service in Los Angeles on Thursday. The late owner of the Los Angeles Lakers who passed away on Monday at age 80, Buss bought the Lakers in 1979 and oversaw the team's transformation into the "Showtime" sensation of the 1980s and its return to dominance during the 2000s with Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant electrifying another generation of L.A. fans. All told, the Lakers won 10 NBA championships under Buss' watch, playing with a style that revolutionized the way the game was played and marketed. "You will hear many speak of Jerry's business acumen and the quality of experts with whom he worked and surrounded himself. You'll hear about the family culture for players and colleagues, about 'Showtime' and much more," said NBA Commissioner David Stern, one of many speakers during the service at L.A. Live. The Other '70s Blonde Bombshell
Huffington Post - about 4 years
When most people think of '70s blonde bombshells, Farrah Fawcett and her feathered mane usually comes to mind. But in the shadows of the late Hollywood icon was another golden-haired actress named Dyan Cannon. Born Samille Diane Friesen in Tacoma, Wash., Cannon has more than 50 years of acting experience underneath her head of tousled curls. She perfected her craft in the late '50s with several TV series roles before making her big screen debut in the 1960 Budd Boetticher crime flick "The Rise and Fall of Legs Diamond." It wasn't too long before the blonde beauty caught the eye of fellow actor Cary Grant (who was 33 years her senior). The two got hitched and welcomed a daughter, Jennifer. While their tumultuous marriage and divorce was made for Tinseltown gossip, Cannon looked picture perfect offscreen during the '70s wearing virginal white gowns and voluminous blowouts. As she embraced her wild curls in the '80s and '90s, the star's style shifted with the times in sho ...
