FTW vs. WTF: The TV Week in Review (March 15–21)
Yahoo News - almost 2 years
It's March Madness, everybody! (For you non-Americans, just pretend it's the World Cup but you can use your hands and the tournament doesn't run as long and the goals are 10 feet in the air and much smaller.) That means everyone will be talking about rankings and upsets. But even if you don't know a thing about basketball, it doesn't matter, because you can still talk about rankings and upsets from a TV point of view. You want rankings? How about the top 30 shows of the decade so far? You want an upset? Try watching The Slap! Anything that basketball can do, TV can do better. And it's on all year long! Also, here's what we liked and didn't like from the TV week that was. SPOILER ALERT: If you haven't finished watching this week's new episodes (of The Walking Dead, The Flash, The Americans, etc.), we suggest that you hold off on reading this story until you do. FTW: We'll never see another show like The Jinx, even if we live to be a million years old Andrew Jarecki's six-part HBO docume ...

Making News and Getting Views: HuffPost Live Hits a Billion
Huffington Post - about 3 years
In The Social Network, Justin Timberlake's Sean Parker dazzles Mark Zuckerberg by saying, "A million dollars isn't cool. You know what's cool? A billion dollars." Well, you know what else is cool? A billion video views. That's the milestone that HuffPost Live hit today, just 18 months after it launched. Cool.... Those billion views have been generated by a very broad range of programming, covering everything from the sublime (like this powerful look at the victims of gun violence, or this segment on a dad sent to jail because of a clerical error) to the silly (check out this interview with people who haven't shampooed their hair in years) -- and everything in between. Among the most widely viewed of the nearly 12,000 segments HuffPost Live has produced are this breaking report on the passing of Nelson Mandela (1,025,630 views), this look at how to not overstep parental boundaries (2,536,932 views), this off-the-wall interview with Sarah Silverman and her very funny dad (1,332,143 ...

Elizabeth Hurley: I Did Not Have Sex With Bill Clinton!
The Hollywood Gossip - about 3 years
Elizabeth Hurley is emphatically denying a report that she had an affair with Bill Clinton while he was U.S. President and she was dating Hugh Grant. The 48-year-old actress implied to her Twitter followers that she was considering legal action over the spurious reports originally made by Radar Online. “Ludicrously silly stories about me & Bill Clinton,” she wrote. “Totally untrue. In the hands of my lawyers. Yawn.” Elizabeth Hurley-Bill Clinton Affair The celebrity gossip site, in reporting the story, cited audio footage from Hurley’s rumored ex-lover, Black Hawk Down star Tom Sizemore, talking about it. Not only did Sizemore discuss in detail how Elizabeth Hurley and Bill Clinton had a love affair, he says he set the two of them up back in 1998. Sizemore also alleged that he personally enjoyed a three-year affair with Liz Hurley while she was engaged to Hugh Grant in the early 1990s. Bill Clinton Banged Elizabeth Hurley In The White House, According To Tom Sizemore
The Superficial - about 3 years
Before I get into this story, there’s a few things you should probably know. 1. Radar Online pays sources. 2. Drugs cost money. However, 3. Bill Clinton loves pussy. Literally any pussy. No, really. So now that you’re fully educated, here’s Tom Sizemore bragging about the time he hooked up our 42nd president with Elizabeth Hurley which I’m pretty sure is mainly about Tom Sizemore making sure everyone knows he banged Liz Hurley because somehow every person in this story walks around talking exactly like Tom Sizemore talks: According to the Black Hawk Down star, it all began during a 1998 White House screening of Saving Private Ryan, when President Clinton pulled Sizemore aside from the crowd of A-listers that included Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, Ed Burns and Dennis Farina. The premiere of the film was four years after Hurley was catapulted into the limelight after wearing that Versace dress to the premiere of ex-boyfriend Hugh Grant’s film Four Weddings And A Funeral. Good thing Hugh Grant knows About a Boy! The famed British bachelor, 53, is now the father of three love children after Swedish TV producer Anna Elisabet Eberstein secretly gave birth to a baby boy in September 2013. A copy of a birth certificate obtained by Us Weekly confirms that the child was born at Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea Hospital in London on Sept. 3; though the baby's first name is not listed, his surname is "Grant," and the actor's full name, Hugh John Mungo Grant, is listed as the father on the document. Grant's rep did not return Us Weekly's requests for comment. (The Sun was the first to report this news.) PHOTOS: Hollywood's new star dads  Coincidentally, Eberstein was pregnant at the same time as Tinglan Hong, who gave birth to her second child from Grant, a son named Felix, in December 2013. Island Life Reveals Relaxed Side of Malaysia
Huffington Post - about 3 years
I've never held a fishing rod before, let alone do whatever you do with one. Though the guess is, all going well, that what I should do is catch a fish. No one is holding their breath, however, because I don't even know how to throw the line into the water, but ten minutes later I've landed a sea bass that would feed 12. Needless to say, I am not wrestling with giant, ocean-going creatures a la Ernest Hemingway, but grappling with more results-oriented angling at a fish farm with several helpers and a few dogs who gallop around the pens to fend off predatory sea otters. We pull up in our boat, hop off, hook our catch of the day and zoom away again. Instant gratification is not generally a big part of angling, but in the Tropics, it's too hot for things to happen slowly. Especially as this is just the beginning of the Chef's Kitchen Experience at Pangkor Laut Resort. Roughly half way between the capital Kuala Lumpur and the UNESCO world heritage site of George Town, Penang, ...

This Week's Best Dressed: Kate Beckinsale's Look Really Suits Her
People Magazine - over 3 years
David Livingston/Getty It’s been a week full of jaw-dropping gowns and sleek dresses, so imagine our surprise when a basic black pantsuit nabbed the top spot in the race for Best Dressed star of the week. Kate Beckinsale’s Helmut Lang number, racking up over 25,000 likes, was taken up a notch by the actress’s bright pink cap-toe Christian Louboutin pumps (BRB, adding them to our Must Buy When We’re Millionaires file). Hot on her (fashionable!) heels is Elizabeth Hurley in a pink sheath promoting Breast Cancer Awareness, as well as Modern Family star Sarah Hyland in a Clover Canyon dress. And hot Hollywood mom Molly Sims takes the No. 3 title in her printed gray-and-black dress with a flared hemline, plus red pumps (check out our weekend sales roundup for a similar pair) at an Airbnb event in L.A. Our personal favorite rounds out the group in the No. 10 spot: Jamie Chung. We’ve been dreaming of the neckline of her Cushnie et Ochs dress since she stepped out in it at the N.Y.C. G ...

Elizabeth Hurley: Breast Cancer Awareness Month - Please Help
The Huffington Post - over 3 years
It's that time of year again - Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It's 19 years since the late Evelyn Lauder asked me to help her in her newly formed Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign - the BCA Campaign. I'll never forget her saying to me that women all over the world were dying and no one was talking about it. She told me how inspired she was by the Aids activists who were doing such an amazing job and she said it was our turn to push this disease into the spotlight. And boy, did she succeed. Since the BCA was formed in 1992, breast cancer has gone from being whispered about in fear and secrecy to being shouted from the roof tops. The pink ribbon - co-created by Evelyn Lauder - is a ubiquitous sign of hope for everyone, everywhere. We know so much more about this terrible disease now than we did then; drugs and treatment regimes have improved and more women are surviving. One of the BCA Campaign's key messages has been that early detection saves lives. We know that ...
