Trump's Sons Say Some People May Deserve Twitter Shaming
Huffington Post - about 1 month
Two of president-elect Donald Trump’s sons think their father’s tendency to name and shame his detractors on Twitter may be the right thing to do, they said during a pre-inauguration interview with ABC News’ 20/20 that aired on Thursday. The program spoke with three of Trump’s adult children who have played major roles in both the presidential campaign and the formation of his new administration: Ivanka, Donald Jr. and Eric. All were asked about Trump’s fondness for social media ― which he’s used to call reporters “sick” and “stupid,” slam celebrities as “over-rated” and blast opponents as “liars” and “lightweights.” While Ivanka said that, at times, she has called him on his Twitter use (“I’m his daughter, so I give him my feedback, solicited or otherwise”), her brothers said the tweets could be a good thing that can cut through “deceptive” media coverage. “I see how bad the media can be. Their marriage was Vargas’ first and the second for Cohn, who also has two children from his previous marriage. “We both love our children and we will be in each other’s lives for the rest of our lives because of these two amazing boys,” she said. “I think we both focus on that.” Cohn said he’s proud of Vargas for opening up about her addiction.  “Elizabeth has always had, and will always have my support, especially in regards to her recovery,” Cohn said in a ...

Gibson was then named sole anchor of the show, effective from May 29, 2006, replacing Vargas and Woodruff.
More Details Hide Details To explain the sudden change, Vargas cited her doctors' recommendation to cut back her schedule considerably owing to a difficult pregnancy and her wish to spend more time with her new baby when he arrives. Most "inside accounts", however, claimed she fully expected and wished to return to the anchor chair soon after giving birth, but Gibson threatened to quit ABC News if he wasn't made sole permanent anchor. According to these sources, his gambit succeeded and she was left embittered, although not enough to sever ties with the network.

Another story she did, based on the book The Da Vinci Code and the role of Mary Magdalene, helped fuel a nationwide religious debate. Vargas stated that for centuries Mary Magdalene has been portrayed as a prostitute by the church despite evidence to the contrary. She went on to question the strictly limited role of women within the church. In 1999 she won an Emmy Award for her coverage of the Elián González story, and in 1998 she was nominated for an Emmy Award for her 20/20 investigation into the wrongful conviction of Betty Tyson.
