Watch The Spice Girls Shut Down Creative Team Who Wanted Them To Look Sexier
Huffington Post - 3 months
This week, an old video of the Spice Girls being amazing (obviously) surfaced online, and it is the literal definition of girl power. The clip was reportedly filmed while the ladies ― Mel C., Mel B., Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham ― were on set for a Polaroid commercial. (Remember the Spice Cam?) When producers suggested the group show more skin in their schoolgirl-inspired outfits, they were having none of it.  At the beginning of the video, Mel B. confronts one of the men on set (seemingly a producer or member of the creative team) and asks, “Why did you ask to have cleavage showing and a midriff showing?” He replies with the typically gross answer, “It’s every man’s fantasy.”  Then Geri walks by to put him in his place, calling him “a chauvinistic pig” before Victoria struts over, steals his sunglasses and proceeds to mock him.  “It’s not sunny, stop trying to look cool,” she says.  And it just keeps getting better.  Geri rips the guy for try ...

VINTAGE VIDEO: Posh Spice Disses Jon Stewart On 'The Daily Show'
Huffington Post - almost 4 years
Victoria Beckham is well aware of her reputation for being cold and, as she put it, a "moody cow." The designer claims that she isn't really an ice queen... but an awesome vintage video from 2000 reveals that there is indeed snarky side. In October 2000, back when Beckham was Posh Spice, she and Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) hit up "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" to promote their newest album. If the Spice Girls and Jon Stewart sound like a strange combination, well, it was. Stewart bumbled through with questions like, "You're married? How'd that go?" But Posh, being so very Posh, didn't make things any easier. When Stewart jokes that his wife is imaginary, Posh asked coyly, "She would have to be, eh?" The she goes in for the kill: "I don't actually think you're that funny." Ouch, Vic. Looks like that reputation for sassiness was completely deserved, after all. Eurovision 2012: 5 Entries Committing Pop Theft
Obsessed with Film - What Cultur - almost 5 years
WEEK 4: Sometimes in Eurovision, producers and artists just struggle to come up with original ideas for songs. I mean the contest has been going on for 57 years now so it’s a little more difficult to think outside of the box these days. The solution: ‘Hmmm, why don’t we just nab some bits from songs that have already been chart hits? It’ll take less time  (and money – we’re in debt remember), sound instantly familiar to everyone who’s heard the original and will definitely be better than that cack about pigeons we were composing before. Just give it to some young sexy people to sing, throw in some equally sexy dancers, add a gimmick – flames, snow, thunder, midgets dressed as sheep – and ta-dah! We’ve totally won this thing.’ The 2012 Eurovision Song Contest is rife with stolen musical identities so here are 5 cases of Pop Theft running amok the firework-laden stage alongside their chart hit counterparts (so you can decide for yourself): Sofi Marinova – Love Unlimited (Bulgaria) ...

In 1994, Melanie C, Mel B, Geri Halliwell, and Victoria Beckham responded to an advertisement in The Stage magazine. Around 400 women who answered the ad went to Dance Works studios. Halliwell, Chisholm, Beckham (née Adams), and Brown were originally chosen as the members of the group, along with Michelle Stephenson, who due to her lack of commitment was replaced with Abigail Kis but for only a short while, then, was finally replaced with Bunton. The group felt insecure about the lack of a contract and were frustrated by the direction in which Heart Management was steering them. In October 1994, armed with a catalogue of demos and dance routines, the group began touring management agencies. They persuaded Bob Herbert to set up a showcase performance for the group in front of industry writers, producers and A&R men in December 1994 at the Nomis Studios in Shepherd's Bush where they received an "overwhelmingly positive" reaction. Due to the large interest in the group, the Herberts quickly set about creating a binding contract for the group. Encouraged by the reaction they had received at the Nomis showcase, all five members delayed signing contracts on the legal advice from, amongst others, Adams' father Anthony Adams. In March 1995, because of the group's frustration at their management's unwillingness to listen to their visions and ideas, they parted with Heart Management.
