Doing Well By Doing Good: An Interview with Massimo Bottura, Restaurateur and Activist
Huffington Post - 4 months
Last summer I spent time in Brazil meeting with several amazing organizations of the Epic portfolio. I was there to both learn more about the social impact of these organizations and to spend time fulfilling my role as Chairman of the Sport and Society Committee of the Paris2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games Bid Committee. Between the excitement of the Rio Summer Olympics happening around us and finding ways for Epic to become involved in such a spirited and promising community, I had a moment to check out David Hertz's popup restaurant ran by Gastromotiva. David is one of the principal leaders of the Social Gastronomy Movement worldwide, developing gastronomy as a powerful agent for transformation and social inclusion. It's such a clever concept ! David is able to achieve the reach of his impact by partnering with top chefs around the world and it was through his introduction that I met another incredible chef and philanthropist, Massimo Bottura. Massimo is the owner of Osteria ...

The Story of My First and Favorite 'No'
Huffington Post - over 1 year
When I was fifteen, I took my first driver's ed class. I was excited. I had studied the rules of the road; I had my permit neatly folded in my genuine faux leather Duran Duran wallet. I was all about getting my license because once I did, my dad was going to let me drive myself to school in the butter-colored Renault Alliance that was in our driveway. Driving meant freedom. Driving meant that one day, one day so, so soon, I could drive right out of suburbia and drive right into someplace I was meant to be. Like Paris. (Do not interject with your "Don't you know you'd drive into the ocean, you moron?" stuff right now. You're ruining the moment. This was my first driving lesson. All my dreams were coming true. Let me have this one.) That afternoon my mom dropped me off at the public school where driver's ed was offered. I waited patiently for my instructor to arrive and when he did, I got to climb behind the wheel of a car for the very first time. It was awesome. Totally. ...

Eric Dane Is The Most Adorable Dad EVER
Huffington Post - over 3 years
Well, this is precious. Eric Dane was spotted exercising with his daughter at Cold Water Canyon park in Beverly Hills, Calif., on June 22 -- and the photos melt our hearts. The "Grey's Anatomy" star was busy working out with his trainer when his wife Rebecca Gayheart brought the couple's two girls, Billie, 3, and Georgia, 1, to the park to play. But when Billie saw her dad breaking a sweat, she decided to join in on the fun. The blond curly-haired cutie got down on the ground and started doing pushups with her 40-year-old dad while her younger sister pushed her baby stroller around. 'There's A Lot Of Emotional Death'
Huffington Post - almost 4 years
When the promo for next week's "Grey's Anatomy" aired Thursday night, fans panicked after seeing a pregnant Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) slip and fall on the stairs at the hospital. Now, showrunner Shonda Rhimes is hinting that "Grey's Anatomy" viewers have reason to worry about Meredith's baby. "She has that fall, and that starts a string of events that is cause for concern," Rhimes told TV Guide. "Then, in the finale, we have the storm hit and the conditions under which Meredith Grey has to go into labor are the exact opposite of any conditions under which anybody ever in the world would want to have to give birth ... It's also a really beautiful story, and I think Ellen did amazing work on it and I'm really excited about it." Considering how challenging it was for Meredith to get pregnant, it seems only fitting that giving birth would be an equal challenge. But with the official episode description for the "Grey's Anatomy" Season 9 finale (below) teasing that "one of the d ...

Adam Amel Rogers: The Gay Jackie Robinson Will Apparently Be White
Huffington Post Sports - about 4 years
For what seems like a lifetime, those who follow gay issues in sports have been addressing the same tiresome series of questions: "Is America ready for an openly gay athlete in one of the four major team sports?" "When will a current player finally come out?" "How will it affect the locker room?" The list goes on. While we wait patiently for a major athlete to come out and put these questions to rest, at least we can see our dreams (and, at times, our nightmares) play out in Hollywood. Last week, USA Network's Necessary Roughness became the latest in a long line of TV shows to imagine an athlete's coming-out process. The depiction of quarterback Rex Evans making the decision to come out as a gay man has largely been treated with care, compassion and complexity. The storyline reflects evolving attitudes toward LGBT equality in American culture, and it differs from previous coming-out plots in that Rex isn't fired or forced onto injured reserve. But there is one tra ...

WATCH: Kid's Epic Dance Moves At Basketball Game
Huffington Post - about 4 years
The boy in the video above is either, depending on your viewpoint, an amazing mover, or a right little show-off. Either way, he's won the internet with his dance moves during a break in the recent Houston Rockets vs Indiana Pacers NBA game. Having been spotted by the Old School Dance Cam (which we're guessing is so-called because it's old school to have a dance cam, rather than being a camera that only films people who are doing old-school dancing), he gives it all he's got. We haven't seen such raw dancing talent since Stavros Flatley auditioned for 'Britain's Got Talent'. Congratulations, kid! (Via Daily Picks And Flicks)
