Former soap opera star Brenda Dickson claims she's broke and homeless after being blacklisted by Hollywood producer William J. Bell. The New York Post reports that in the former "Young and the Restless" star's new book, "My True Hidden Hollywood Story," Dickson claims Bell hired "Mafia cartel judges and attorneys" to "ruin" her life, and finally after 30 years, she's fighting back. In her book, the 64-year-old, who originated the role of Jill Foster Abbott on the daytime series, claims she was fired after 15 years on the show and has been blocked from working ever since. Dickson has developed a bit of reputation over the years, and made headlines in 2007 when she was arrested after refusing to vacate the Hawaii apartment she shared with her ex-husband.Dickson claimed she wasn't given a fair divorce hearing because the judge ordered that she receive no alimony, and that the condo she and her ex shared would be sold and the profits divided between them. Huffington Post - about 4 years
Before we let go of 2012 , this might be a good to review some of the most frequently searched topics on the Nexis.com database, used by journalists, consultants, sales representatives and a host of other clients. The searchable directory includes more than 40,000 LexisNexis sources. Looking over the most frequently requested Nexis subject index terms and people for 2012, I guess it should come as no surprise that former Australian Prime Minister John Howard came in second just behind consumer issues as the most requested subject of the year. With the debate over gun violence having reached fever pitch in the wake of the heartbreaking shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown Conn., Australia is being championed by many as a model that the United States should follow. Australia's watershed came on April 28, 1996, when a gun collector brandishing a semiautomatic military style weapon opened fire in Port Arthur, a popular tourist destination in the state of T ...

LA County DA Will Not Prosecute Lindsay Lohan for Jewelry Heist
JD Journal - over 4 years
On Wednesday, TMZ was told that Lindsay Lohan will not be prosecuted for stealing over $100,000 in watches and sunglasses from a home in Hollywood Hills. The L.A. County District Attorney’s office made the announcement because they rejected the case. The charge evaluation worksheet for the D.A. says that there is not enough evidence to file a burglary charge against Lohan.   The District Attorney said that Lohan and the owner of the home that was burglarized, Sam Magid, have had a ‘longstanding relationship.’ The owner never named Lohan as a suspect in the crime, according to the District Attorney, and that the “potential eyewitnesses have refused to become involved.”   Also missing from the case is the fact that the other suspects involved were not found with any of the stolen property in their possession. Gavin Doyle, the assistant for Lohan, also will not be prosecuted in the case. TMZ was told by a representative from the District Attorney’s Office that, “The District ...

'Happy Days' Cast Settles Lawsuit
Huffington Post - over 4 years
The cast of "Happy Days" and CBS have come to a settlement over a royalties lawsuit. According to The Hollywood Reporter, CBS and the cast reached an out-of-court settlement with just 10 days to go before trial was scheduled to begin. The lawsuit was over licensing and merchandising revenue. Members of the "Happy Days" cast were suing over breach of contract and fraud, among other charges. Each of the four original "Happy Days" stars -- Marion Ross, Anson Williams, Don Most, Erin Moran and the late Tom Bosley's wife, Patricia -- were to get about $65,000 out of the settlement, THR reports. As part of the settlement the cast will also get future royalties. "Happy Days" stars Ron Howard and Henry Winkler were not involved in the suit. The lawsuit, which was filed in April 2011, originally asked for $10 million, according to CNN. In a statement, CBS said they "never refused to pay the members of the 'Happy Days' cast any of the money they are owed under their contracts, ...

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - CBS Corp is in settlement talks with cast members of the popular 1970's TV show "Happy Days" to end a legal dispute over revenues from the sitcom's merchandise, an agreement that could have broad ramifications for how TV actors are compensated. Erin Moran, ‘Joanie Cunningham,’ Living in Trailer Park
JD Journal - over 4 years
One of the stars of Happy Days, Erin Moran, is close to broke and is living in a rundown trailer park. Moran is 51 and played Richie Cunningham’s little sister Joanie on the hit 1970s sitcom. She was recently evicted from her home in California. Moran has not had an acting job for quite some time now and her and her husband, Steve Fleischmann are sharing a trailer with Fleischmann’s elderly mom in Berkshire Pointe Mobile Home Park in New Salisbury, Indiana.   “Life hasn’t been kind to Erin since the foreclosure of her home,” a family friend said. “She and Steve moved in with his ailing mother at the trailer park a few weeks back. Erin is like an angel to her mother-in-law. She cooks and cleans for her and takes care of her personal hygiene. But to look at Erin today you’d never know she was once one of TV’s biggest stars. Her peaches-and-cream complexion is a maze of wrinkles and crow’s feet. She’s aged terribly.”   Erin and Steve married in 1993. She said she is trying t ...

On April 19, 2011, Moran and three of her Happy Days co-stars, Don Most, Anson Williams and Marion Ross, plus the estate of Tom Bosley, who died in 2010, filed a US$10 million breach-of-contract lawsuit against CBS, which owns the show.
More Details Hide Details The suit claimed that cast members had not been paid for merchandising revenues owed under their contracts. Revenues included those from show-related items such as comic books, T-shirts, scrapbooks, trading cards, games, lunch boxes, dolls, toy cars, magnets, greeting cards and DVDs where cast members' images appear on the box covers. Under the actors' contracts, they were supposed to be paid five percent from the net proceeds of merchandising if a single actor's image was used, and half that amount if the cast members were pictured in a group. CBS said it owed the actors US$8,500 and US$9,000 each, most of it from slot machine revenues, but the group said they were owed millions. The lawsuit was initiated after Ross was informed by a friend playing slots at a casino of a "Happy Days" machine on which players win the jackpot when five Marion Rosses are rolled.
