RATINGS RAT RACE: ‘Hotel Hell’ & ‘Stars Earn Stripes’ Finales Way Down, ‘Grimm’ Hits Season Low, ‘Bachelor Pad’ Up
Deadline Hollywood - over 4 years
Summer’s ending brought endings to two summer series last night, both with a drop. Gordon Ramsey’s Hotel Hell had a two-hour exit on Fox, picking out the bed bugs and giving Pennsylvania’s Red Rock Inn a top to bottom cleaning. The first hour from 8 – 9 PM was a special for the show, bringing in a 1.8/5. The Hotel Hell 9 – 10 PM finale brought in a 1.7/4, a sharp drop of 29% from last Monday”s season high. Labor Day’s rating won’t hurt Ramsey’s work trying to fix up more venues in the future, Fox recently renewed Hotel Hell for a second season. On NBC’s Stars Earn Stripes (0.9/2), former two-time WWE Diva champion Eve Torres won the first season of the celebrity reality series.  However, the night itself was no winner for Stars Earn Stripes. Having had weak ratings all summer, Monday’s show was down 10% from last week, resulting in a series low. The two-hour Stars was followed on NBC’s primetime line-up with a new Grimm (1.4/4). And it was a bit grim on that front too. The police fanta ...

War, just another reality show
Salon.com - over 4 years
NBC’s controversial, Nobel laureate-detested reality show “Stars Earn Stripes,” which premiered last night, is “Dancing With the Stars” gone militaristic. But when grenade launchers, automatic weapons and war games substitute for salsa and swing dancing, the results are less wholesome entertainment and more armed-forces propaganda. The premise of the show is as follows: Eight “celebrities”— Dean Cain, Nick Lachey, Laila Ali, WWF “Diva” Eve Torres, Terry Crews, “Biggest Loser” trainer Dolvett Quince, Todd Palin and Picabo Street — team up with eight military professionals. The pros include a Green Beret, a Delta Force member with a Fu Manchu, a Navy SEAL, and the greatest sniper in U.S. history, a guy who calmly explains to the camera that it’s estimated he has killed 160 people, among others. Together, they perform long, detailed, explosive missions. Continue Reading...

NBC reality series 'Stars Earn Stripes' the reason WWE Diva Eve has been off TV
Cageside Seats - over 4 years
World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has been missing a very foxy lady on a power trip recently and now we know why. Eve Torres, who had been working under John Laurinaitis while he was still in power as General Manager of both Raw and Smackdown, disappeared from TV recently for reasons she wouldn't elaborate on when asked on Twitter. It turns out, she was off filming a reality series for NBC called "Stars Earn Stripes." It's a military themed show (which fits right in with WWE and its leader, Vince McMahon) that will feature a celebrity cast competing in training exercises to earn money for charity. Eve will be representing the USO. The show will debut on Mon., Aug. 13, 2012, at 8 p.m. ET. That just so happens to be in direct competition with Monday Night Raw on USA, with that night being the big SummerSlam go home edition. The more Eve the better, huh? After the jump, read the full press release announcing the show. UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - June 19, 2012 - NB ...

This recap and analysis of WWE’s Monday Night Raw are the personal opinions of the writer. The author of this article is a former promoter, writer, and referee in the wrestling industry. You won’t find analysis as accurate as this anywhere else on the internet. WWE Monday Night Raw Results 5/28/12 from New Orleans Raw begins with a patriotism video of Memorial Day.  A video that probably got more time than the Diva’s will tonight.  Then it’s Recap Video #1 of the evening.  The all too predictable Cena vs Big Show feud is re-visited.  It’s only a week old, but apparently it needs recapped.  5 minutes of Raw has been wasted before the show has even started.  It’s going to be another long night. The Big Show comes to the ring.  He is wearing a suit and smiling.  He comments on how he is smiling.  He attempts to spin it into why being a face was bad for his career.  I really haven’t heard a good reason as to why Big Show turned heel yet.  It’s like they inevitably wanted to do it, s ...

WWE Raw Review 30/4/12 – Brock Lesnar Breaks Triple H’s Arm
Obsessed with Film - What Cultur - almost 5 years
The Big News: Brock Lesnar continued to wreak havoc by breaking Triple H’s arm, Daniel Bryan won a beat the clock challenge to challenge CM Punk for the WWE title at Over the Limit and John Laurinatis confirmed that he would face Cena at the same PPV after having beaten his hurt rival senseless with the assistance of Lord Tensai and Sakomoto. In a Nutshell: A very disappointing follow up to an outstanding Extreme Rules PPV. WWE Raw was advertised with a graphic and introduced as starring Brock Lesnar. John Laurinaitis came out to start the show bragging about how he had revolutionised the WWE and then introduced Brock Lesnar as the force who had beaten Cena so badly that the poster boy may never be the same again. Brock talked about how he had brought the pain before being interrupted by COO Triple H. Hunter said that Lesnar was no country bumpkin but actually a shrewd businessman who had bullied a timid John Laurinaitis into getting his own way with contract demands. He said ...

WWE Extreme Rules 2012 Results: Layla Defeats Nikki Bella to Win Divas Title
Bleacher Report - almost 5 years
At Extreme Rules 2012, Layla El made her surprising return to in-ring action and won the Divas Championship. Initially, Nikki Bella was scheduled to defend her title in a rematch against Beth Phoenix. But at the last minute, Eve Torres, the Executive Assistant to John Laurinaitis, informed the Glamazon that she is not medically cleared to compete and will be pulled from the match. This led Nikki to assume that she had the night off. However, Eve declared that she will defend her title against a mystery opponent (My money was on Kharma). Eve then added, "Don't worry. It's not Kharma." (Crap! Well, how about AJ?) The Bellas made their entrance and Nikki cut about a promo about how she will be the longest-reigning Divas Champion. Her sister Brie chimed in, stating that "they" will have a lengthy reign. Suddenly, the Lay-Cool music hits and out comes Layla El. The match starts, and Layla looks surprisingly good. I think she used a La Magistral pin variation at one point. Of course, ...

WWE Monday Night Raw Results 4/16/12 from London, England. WWE Championship- No DQ No Countout: CM Punk (c) vs. Mark Henry- So much for my rant last week about how WWE Championship matches need to main event the show and be prestigious.  That’s out the window.  On the other hand, it is kinda cool to start the show with a championship match.  Hopefully this show is heavy on wrestling.  English fans demand wrestling.  Every time the WWE goes there they hear “we want wrestling” chants.  The crowd is hot right off the top.  Very loud CM Punk chants.  Mark Henry doesn’t even get an entrance.  Really?  I’ve never seen that happen in a championship match before.  Henry looks like a jobber at this point and isn’t a credible conten ...

WWE Divas Struggle in ‘Mania Match; WrestleMania 28 Results
Headline Planet - almost 5 years
Maria Menounos, sadly, brings more to the table than some of the company’s actual Divas. Unfortunately, what she brings was not enough to salvage an awful Divas match. The match, which saw the “Extra” host team with Kelly Kelly against Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres, was a war of awkward movements and botched spots, and, in fact, overshadowed by a “skidmarks” chant. The chant, directed at Menounos, was in reference to the fact that Eve’s makeup rubbed off on Maria’s white pants after she and Kelly gave a “double stinkface” to the heel Diva. Maria Menounos & Kelly Kelly vs. Beth Phoenix and Eve The abysmal match ended when Kelly and Maria pushed Beth into Eve, knocking Eve off the apron and setting the Divas Champion up for a roll-up from the “Extra” host.

Eve threatened Booker that she would tell the Board of Directors about his discriminatory hiring practices, and was given a match against Kaitlyn the following week to determine who would become his assistant, which Eve won, and got the job. In August, she began a storyline where she acted friendly and nice, diminishing her heel characteristics. As part of this apparent personality change, she shook hands with her rival Kaitlyn following a match and teamed with her and Layla on the September 10 episode of Raw. At the Night of Champions pay-per-view, Kaitlyn was attacked and injured by a masked figure backstage, and as a result, Eve replaced Kaitlyn in a match against Divas Champion Layla. The following week, Eve suspended Phoenix, pending an investigation into Kaitlyn's attack, howerver Phoenix's suspension was reversed by Booker T, and Eve blamed Teddy Long for telling her to suspend Phoenix. It was later revealed that Kaitlyn was attacked by Aksana, on Eve's orders. On the October 8 episode of Raw, Eve defeated Kaitlyn via submission to retain the Divas Championship.
