Frances Bean Cobain's New Modeling Gig Is So Not Surprising
Huffington Post - 28 days
What do Cher, Willow Smith, Susan Sarandon and Frances Bean Cobain have in common? Why, they’re all Marc Jacobs muses, of course.  Cobain is starring in Jacobs’ spring/summer 2017 campaign. In an interview with Vogue, the 24-year-old rock offspring called Jacobs an “underdog for the masses,” for whom she made an exception when she agreed to model.  “I wouldn’t have done it with anyone other than Marc,” she said. "I first met Frances Bean when she was 2 years old at a dinner with her mom (Courtney) and Anna Sui in 1994 at Bar Six in NYC. I have always wanted to work with Frances. Her beauty, uniqueness, and strength is something I have long admired and respected. Few things remain as constant as my continued inspiration from those whose honesty, integrity, courage, and curiosity lead them to explore and venture beyond preconceived boundaries. Photographed by David Sims, I am pleased to share the first image of Frances Bean Cobain for our Spring/Summer 2017 campaign ...

7 Brands That Give Old Clothes New Life Again
Huffington Post - 6 months
As part of HuffPost’s “Reclaim” project, HuffPost Style will focus the month of September on simple ways to educate yourself on becoming a better consumer. We live in an age where fashion is fast and disposable. When we don’t want something anymore, it’s easy to just throw it away and buy something new because we likely didn’t spend very much on it to begin with. But in an economy where more millennials are renting than buying and debt runs rampant, we need better, smarter ways to shop. If we don’t, we’re going to end up with even more heaps of waste and less to show for it. Brands are aware of the need to repurpose clothing, and some of them are making it increasingly easier for regular consumers, like us, to do so.  We’ve rounded up some of the best companies that are breathing new life into old clothing. Vinted A marketplace where you can pretty much do it all in the way of selling, buying and swapping clothes, Vinted’s website and app ...

You Can Stay In Kurt Cobain & Courtney Love's Former Apartment With Airbnb
Huffington Post - almost 2 years
Nirvana fans can now get closer than ever to the late Kurt Cobain. The musician's former Los Angeles apartment, which he lived in with Courtney Love, is up for rent on Airbnb. According to Vulture, the singer-songwriter and Love lived in the apartment from 1991 to 1992 during the height of Nirvana's fame. Brandon Kleinman, the current tenant who's lived in the apartment since 2011 and has been renting out one bedroom for a couple years, told Vulture his experience living around music history. "Once every 60 days or so," Kleinman said, "I’ll get a weird, older gentleman, a rocker-type dude, sort of a burnout, knocking on the door, saying, ‘Do you know what used to happen here?’" But apparently the apartment's history hasn't created a high demand for renting the space. Kleinman says he's only rented out the one bedroom, one bath section of the apartment "four or five times a year" and that his landlord didn't even tell him about Cobain and Love's history there until after he signed ...

Frances Cobain was born on August 18, 1992 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.
More Details Hide Details She was named after Frances McKee, the guitarist for the Scottish indie pop duo The Vaselines. Her middle name, Bean, was chosen because Kurt Cobain thought she looked like a kidney bean on the ultrasound. Before Cobain's birth, there were rumors suggesting that Love, her mother, used heroin during the pregnancy. This scandal intensified when Vanity Fair published Lynn Hirschberg's article "Strange Love" that alleged Love admitted to using heroin even after learning of her pregnancy. Along with husband Kurt Cobain, Love maintained that Vanity Fair took her words out of context. Eventually, child welfare services launched an investigation questioning their parenting abilities. The investigation was eventually dismissed, but not without a significant amount of legal wrangling and Cobain being removed from her parents' custody for a short time, beginning when she was two weeks old. After a lengthy legal battle, Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love were able to regain custody of their daughter. They employed several nannies over the next two years to help them care for her. According to Michael Azerrad in Come as You Are: The Story of Nirvana, this incident inspired Kurt Cobain to write the song "Rape Me."
She explained, "I wore his pajamas because he got married in them to my mom in 1992 in Hawaii so I thought they would be cute if I wore them today.
