    Gold was named in the U.S. team to the 2012 World Team Trophy.
    More Details Hide Details At her senior international debut, she finished 5th overall behind fellow Junior Worlds medalist Adelina Sotnikova. Gold has been assigned to 2012 Skate Canada and the 2012 Cup of Russia for the 2012–2013 season. Gold attended ninth grade at Glenwood Senior High School in Chatham, Illinois before switching to online education. Her father is an anesthesiologist. She has a twin sister, Carly, who is also a competitive figure skater. Season! Short program! Free skating!
    She then competed at the 2012 World Junior Championships in Minsk, Belarus.

    Gold made her international debut at the Junior Grand Prix in Tallinn, Estonia, winning gold at the event. She then qualified for the 2012 U.S. Championships on the Junior level, where she won both the short and long programs to take the gold medal.
