Lady Antebellum's Charles Kelley Breaks Out With Solo Album
Huffington Post - about 1 year
No, Lady Antebellum isn't breaking up, but one of the group's members is branching out. Charles Kelley, who has been a part of the country music trio for 10 years, is gearing up to release his first-ever solo album, "The Driver," on Feb. 5. As a plus, the title song off the record has already earned him a Grammy nomination. "That was a really big boost of confidence," Kelley told The Huffington Post of the Best Country Duo/Group Performance nod. "Starting out with this process, we always knew it was going to be interesting to see how many fans would connect the dots between Charles Kelley and 'That guy from Lady Antebellum.' I am starting over, and there's something that's humbling and exciting about it." Although "The Driver" isn't the "obvious, straight-out-the-gate, radio-friendly song," according to Kelley, the singer says it means a lot more to him than just any other tune, especially now that it's been recognized. "I feel kind of validated," he said. "To put that so ...

'America Is A Bizarre Place And Willie Is Our Captain'
Huffington Post - almost 4 years
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- America loves its outlaws, and few are as admired and lionized as Willie Nelson. As the enduring American icon's 80th birthday has approached, he's been honored with lifetime achievement awards, serenaded at special performances and saluted by musicians from every genre of music. And Nelson has taken it all in with a bemused smile. "It's a nice thing to do for someone on their birthday and I appreciate it," Nelson said in a recent interview aboard his bus. "Usually I like to forget my birthdays as much as possible." The hubbub is as much about celebrating Nelson as it has been celebrating with Nelson. The singer whose birthday is Monday or Tuesday – Nelson says April 29, the state of Texas claims April 30 – occupies a unique space in America's cultural memory. A walking bag of contradictions, he wears his hair long in braids and has a penchant for pot smoking, yet remains arguably conservative country music's greatest songwriter. He's acc ...

Huffington Post - about 4 years
Budweiser's iconic Clydesdale horses have long been part of Super Bowl tradition -- and this year was no exception. An adorable baby Clydesdale horse, which was born in January, steals the show in this saccharine Super Bowl ad by Budweiser. In August 2009, Lady Antebellum released "Need You Now" as the title track of its sophomore album. • 2006
    Age 21
Scott formed the country music group Lady Antebellum in 2006 with co lead singer Charles Kelley and back up singer Dave Haywood. They released their debut single, "Love Don't Live Here", on October 2, 2007; it entered Billboards Hot Country Songs chart that year, peaking at No. 3 in early 2008. Their self-titled debut album was released on April 15, 2008, and debuted at No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart.
More Details Hide Details It consisted of eleven songs, ten of which were either written or co-written by the members of the trio, and was produced by Paul Worley and Victoria Shaw. The trio released their second single, "Lookin' for a Good Time", in mid-2008; it peaked at No. 11 in December of that year. Their third single, "I Run to You", became their first Number One hit on the Hot Country Songs chart in July 2009. The album was certified platinum by the RIAA three months later, in October 2009.
Then she met future bandmates Charles Kelley and later, Dave Haywood, in May 2006.
More Details Hide Details She ran into Kelley at a Nashville bar and recognized him from his MySpace page, where she had been listening to his music. She introduced herself to Kelley and complimented him on his music, which led to his deciding that they should get together with Haywood and write songs. The first song they wrote was "All We'd Ever Need". The song was originally written for her to perform; she convinced Kelley it should be a duet, which led to the forming of Lady Antebellum. The group first performed together in August 2006 and signed a record deal in 2007. Scott claims that being lead singer of Lady Antebellum, as opposed to being a solo artist, lessens the pressure on her on stage.
