First Nighter: As Opera, Anna Nicole Goes Bust
Huffington Post - over 3 years
In a way you can't fault underfunded New York City Opera general manager and artistic director George Steel for scheduling Anna Nicole, the Richard Thomas/Mark-Anthony Turnage opera (or maybe popera), now at BAM, as the opening for what could be the revamped company's swan-song season. It will be if the $20 million needed isn't raised pronto. Steel undoubtedly figured the ripped-from-the-headlines story of the late gold-digger with the big treasure chest would likely be hot box-office. He must have seen Anna Nicole at London's Covent Garden when it premiered there in 2011. He maybe even thought it not only commercial but also is good, worthwhile. It's a particular pity to report that though Anna Nicole might be b.-o. catnip, it isn't an artistic treasure chest. To its credit, the salty humor that from time to time librettist Thomas slots into it gets the crowd chuckling. And that's something. "You won't be bored," the large opening chorus of Ralph (This is Your Life) Edward ...

WATCH: Larry Birkhead's 'Douchebag Moment'
Huffington Post - over 3 years
On September 7, 2006, Anna Nicole Smith gave birth to a daughter she named Dannielynn. Though Smith named her former lawyer Howard K. Stern as Dannielynn's father on the birth certificate, Smith's ex Larry Birkhead firmly believed he was actually the child's biological dad. After Birkhead filed a lawsuit a month after Dannielynn's birth (and four months before Smith's death), an April 2007 paternity test revealed that Birkhead was indeed Dannielynn's father. Elated, Birkhead made a statement on the steps outside of the courthouse the day the news broke. "I hate to be the one that told you this, but, I told you so!" he had said back then, raising his arms in triumph. "Oprah: Where Are They Now?" recently caught up with Birkhead, who says he looks back on that life-changing moment with some embarrassment. "When they had given me the results of the paternity test, I call that my 'douchebag moment,'" Birkhead says in the above video. "I hope I can say that on TV…" ...

Courts Settle The Issue Of Anna Nicole Smith's Former Home
Huffington Post - about 4 years
Almost six years after her death, courts have approved the sale of Anna Nicole Smith's former home for $1.3 million, reports NBC Los Angeles. Howard K. Stern, Smith's lawyer and former lover, became the executor of her estate after her death in 2007. He first listed her five-bedroom, 5.5 bathroom home in Studio City, Calif. in 2011 for $1.75 million. The proceeds of the sale will benefit Smith's 6-year-old daughter Dannielynn Birkhead, Stern's attorney told NBC LA. The canyon home, built in 2002, has 4,700 square feet of living space and boasts panoramic views of Los Angeles. The house features marble floors, granite counter tops, ceramic tiles and a two-story entrance, as well as space for a home gym. Smith was filmed in this home for her reality show "The Anna Nicole Show." It depicted the former Guess model's relationships with her son Daniel Wayne Smith, who died in 2006 at the age of 20. Comment on “America’s Got Talent” Judges Bring Back Eliminated Acts For Comeback Performances! (LIVE BLOG) by Tim
Current Movie News - over 4 years
Howard Stern is the only honest judge on that show. Howard at least gives constructive criticism which is honest and to the point. Sharon on the other hands loves everything in front of her and loves to play the victim in the media because of Stern’s popularity and Howie loves to champion bad acts to amuse himself, not tom mention pats himself on the back way too much for his own good. Say what you may about Horse but he’s a lot more talented than Big Barry, who could not sing to save his life. Howard is worth the money they pay him.

More Details Hide Details All but one of these convictions, however, were set aside three months later by judge Robert Perry in a ruling handed down on January 6, 2011. The judge indicated there had been no evidence brought forth to show that Stern intended to break the law by using assumed names to protect Smith's privacy. Journalist Rita Cosby alleged in the book Blonde Ambition: The Untold Story Behind Anna Nicole Smith's Death, released on September 4, 2007, that Smith's nannies revealed that a sex tape existed of Howard K. Stern and former rival Larry Birkhead engaged in a homosexual relationship.
More Details Hide Details However, a lawyer for the nannies threatened to file suit, claiming that the nannies never spoke about such an encounter between Stern and Birkhead. After Stern filed a $60-million libel suit against Cosby and her publisher in October 2007, a spokesperson for the nannies claimed that Cosby offered bribes in an unsuccessful attempt to contact the nannies. In July 2009, in a court hearing on whether to dismiss the lawsuit, Stern's attorney claimed that in deposition of the suits, Cosby admitted there was no videotape and could not prove other allegations. Cosby replied to the Stern lawsuit by saying "…we are solid on our facts more than ever…we are sure of what we have. " In Cosby's videotaped deposition given in a $60 million libel suit against her filed by Howard K. Stern, Cosby said her sources for the gay sex tape were private investigators Don Clark of Houston and his associate Wilma Vicedomine. They were hired by attorney John O'Quinn who represented Virgie Arthur. Attorney O'Quinn used the same strategy before in corporate litigations, a death by a thousand cuts, Lin Wood explained.

Stern announced that he would not contest the ruling and would help Birkhead obtain sole custody. The court ordered Stern to pay $10,000 in court costs for the abandoned appeal.
