'The Good Wife': Alicia Returns To Lockhart/Gardner In 'The Next Week' (EXCLUSIVE)
Huffington Post - over 3 years
Alicia Florrick returns to Lockhart/Gardner in "The Good Wife's" Sunday, Nov. 10 episode, titled "The Next Week," but it's not a happy homecoming. In the exclusive preview above, Alicia (Julianna Margulies) steps off the elevator into her old office and is met with stares, whispers and David Lee (Zach Greiner). "What the hell are you doing here?" he asks. Alicia's there answering a subpoena and has a frosty interaction with "Ms. Lockhart." And things have changed! David Lee has moved into Alicia's office -- of course he had to clean the carpets of all its brimstone first. The official description: "Alicia and Cary suspect that Lockhart/Gardner is spying on them when Zach discovers that the webcam on Alicia's computer is being accessed remotely. Meanwhile, Will takes on more than he anticipated when he comes to the aid of one of Alicia's old clients, and Clarke Hayden returns to offer financial advice to Florrick/Agos." Nathan Lane returns as Clarke Hayden and "Weeds" star Hunter ...

Pigskin Picks: WNCAC unpredictable in volleyball
Blue Ridge Now - over 4 years
My apologies this week to all you football fans who faithfully visit the sports section each Friday in search of a Pigskin Picks column that discusses a football-related topic. While I do enjoy writing about America's favorite (fall) sport, particularly as it relates to my beloved Tar Heels as well as the local prep athletes, this is also a chance to highlight those numerous other athletes and teams — in sports other than football — that have more than earned their moment in the spotlight. To my delight, I've covered quite a bit of volleyball in the past few weeks and had the chance to see firsthand how conferences are taking shape. I've also gotten the chance to see those conferences' top players emerge. I'm sure many of you, even North Henderson fans, consider the Lady Knights' 3-0 sweep of West Henderson on Tuesday an upset. It's mostly tradition that would explain that mentality, because based solely on this season's outcomes the WNC Athletic Conference is shaping up to b ...

Pryor, Lady Knights stun Brevard despite injuries
Blue Ridge Now - over 4 years
The combination of Cameron Pryor's hard swings and North Henderson's solid defense put the Lady Knights on the winning side again Wednesday evening at North following a tough 3-2 loss to Pisgah last Thursday. North fought hard for the 3-0 win to stun Brevard (25-18, 25-21, 25-18) and hand the Lady Blue Devils their second conference loss. With starting setter Kasey McDonald sitting out with a hairline fracture from last week's match at Pisgah, middle blocker Daphne Hill went down in the first set with a sprained ankle after going up for a block. Even without one of its top blockers at the net, North continued to play smart. "With these injuries we've had girls step up and play," said North coach Sue Moon. "Alex Oates is a freshman but a very talented player, and Kim Cannon stepped in and played well for us at setter." North held the slim 13-12 lead in Game 1 before two of Pryor's eight kills for the set slammed to the ground and Brevard added an error of its own for the 16-12 ...

Pigskin Picks: Brevard program making a statement
Blue Ridge Now - over 4 years
After claiming just seven wins in 2009, four wins in 2010 and six in 2011, Brevard volleyball's 9-1 start to the season isn't just about having an out-of-the-blue good year. No, what's happening in the program implies a stronger word: Turnaround. And it was expected. Turnaround is a better explanation for the Lady Blue Devils, behind fourth-year coach Jessica Merrill, not just because of its veteran starters. Brevard boasts just one senior, go-to middle hitter Teal Parker, along with a solid junior class and talented freshmen and sophomores, too, which will be sure to keep the success moving forward in years to come. "Their mentality is totally different than any other team I've coached. They want to win, they want to be there, they enjoy it and they love each other," Merrill said. "The girls set out some pretty high goals at the beginning of the season, to win conference and to get to the playoffs. We set goals each week, and so far they have met every one." Brevard is also ...

Tony Award nominations set without clear favorite
PB Pulse - almost 5 years
NEW YORK — God might not be eligible for a Tony Award nomination on Tuesday, but stories about him are jostling for attention on Broadway. And even Spider-Man might be redeemed. Nominations would be heavenly for Jesus Christ Superstar, Godspell or Leap of Faith, joining last year’s Sister Act and The Book of Mormon to add to the unusual cluster of religious-themed shows around Times Square. (Nuns also appeared in one scene of Ghost the Musical, for the record.) Unlike last year when The Book of Mormon was a heavy favorite, this season has no obvious front-runner. And plays got a bit more attention than musicals, usually Broadway’s bread-and-butter. Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, the former punch-line and now top-earning hit, might contend, even though it’s been around for a long time. The reason is simple: It began previews in November 2010 and endured six delays in opening night and a record-breaking preview period before finally officially opening June 14, 2011 — missing the l ...

2012 Tony Award Nominations Wish List
The Faster Times - almost 5 years
Below is what I would want to see nominated for Tony Awards in a few of the 26 categories. This is not my prediction of what the Tony nominating committee will actually announce Tuesday morning, May 1st. Update: For the actual 2012 Tony Award nominations, click here. (Scroll to the bottom for the complete list of all those eligible in eight major Tony categories) MY SELECTIONS Best Play: Chinglish Clybourne Park
The Lyons Other Desert Cities New plays were especially strong this year, and there were really good productions of some scripts that were not the best work of individual playwrights, such as David Auburn’s The Columnist, or of playwrights in general, such as Peter and the Starcatcher. Best Musical: Ghost Newsies Once There are supposed to be four nominees in this category but I can’t in good conscience pick any of the remaining new musicals that qualify. There are only eight shows in total that qualify in this category this year, and most ranged from dis ...

Hunter Parrish: 'Godspell' Opening Night!
Just Jared - over 5 years
Hunter Parrish wears Marc Jacobs as he arrives at the after party for the opening night performance of Godspell at Planet Hollywood on Monday night (November 7) in New York City. The 24-year-old actor, who stars in the show, finished his look with Closed chinos and Generic Man shoes. Godspell, set in the late ’60s and early ’70s in New York City, is a take on the gospel of St. Matthew. “I love any story that encourages the strength of love in community. I seek to embody the teachings of Jesus and that’s what Godspell is all about,” Hunter has said. “It’s a story that reminds us to embrace our family and our friends, and to use love to live virtuously…and, it’s all in song and dance!! What’s not to love?!”
