'Blue Lagoon' up next for Hollywood remake
Tampa Bay - almost 5 years
Blue Lagoon is getting remade?!? You know as far as '80s classics and their remakes go, I'm okay with this one. Aside from the titillating storyline and then-craze over Brooke Shields, the original 1980 movie was largely forgettable. People Magazine says filming has begun in Puerto Rico for Lifetime's TV remake of The Blue Lagoon. (Ahhh, a TV remake. Well, then it's hard to be upset at all.) The magazine's chief complaint: The actors are wearing too many clothes. Australian actress Indiana Evans (wearing denim shorts in publicity shots -- maybe this is a real '80s movie!) is taking over for Shields and fellow Aussie Brenton Thwaites has assumed the Christopher Atkins' role. No air date has been announced, People says, pointing out that the 1980 Blue Lagoon was a remake itself (previous versions were filmed in 1923 and 1949). Who knew?
