British magazine editor and style icon ISABELLA BLOW has died of cancer. She was just 48. The London-born fashionista passed away in Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in Gloucester, England on Monday (07May07). Blow began her fashion career as an assistant to current American Vogue editor Anna Wintour and went on to become the muse of milliner Philip Treacy. During her impressive career, Blow served as fashion director of British magazine Tatler and is creditted with discovering model Sophie Dahl. Wintour paid tribute to Blow yesterday, saying, "She was a free spirit who really believed in individual talent. "In a world that's largely driven by corporate culture she was a joy to have. She was not too good at getting to the office before 11am, but then she would arrive dressed as maharaja or an Edith Sitwell figure. I don't think she ever did my expenses, but she made my life more interesting." Blow's husband Detmar Blow says, "She was the most extraordinary person and a powerful force in the world of fashion."
