James William Baxter is a young English stage and TV actor best known for his role as Jake Doland in the ITV soap Emmerdale, as well as parts in the play Scarborough and an appearance in the BBC's The Revenge Files of Alistair Fury, filmed on Tyneside. He also played the part of Alex Maddison in ITV World War II drama Joe Maddisons War.

Public Hearing on Hauppauge's Proposed $98M Budget

Hauppauge residents will have one last chance to chime in and offer their opinion on the district's proposed $98 million budget for the 2012-13 school year.  Hauppauge Board of Education will hold the formal budget hearing for the 2012-13 school year at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the James Baxter Board Room of the former Whiporwil Elementary School. The public hearing will be part of the board's regularly scheduled meeting.  Board Trustees will kick off the night by recognizing students who earned honors in the National History Day competition with awards.  School officials will then lead the official budget hearing on Hauppauge's proposed $98 million budget for the 2012-13 school year. The $98,646,111 budget represents a slightly more than 1.42 percent budget-to-budget increase over the current year, or a $1.4 million spending increase. Hauppauge school officials will unveil the results of the district's New York State 2010-2011 report cards on Tuesday night.  Hauppauge Board of Education will have its second regular April meeting 8 p.m. Tuesday night in the James Baxter Board Room at the former Whiporwil Elementary School.  According to the Board of Education's preliminary agenda, school officials will start the evening by recognizing its girls varsity basketball team, the cheerleading team and two outstanding athletes from the winter sports season.  The first presentation of the evening by school officials will be on the district's 2010-11 New York State School report card. The Hauppauge Board of Education adopted a $98.6 million budget for the 2012-13 school year Tuesday night to present to district residents May 8 after receiving additional state aid at the last minute. The adopted $98,646,111 budget represents a slightly more than 1.42 percent budget-to-budget increase over the current year, or a $1.4 million spending increase. If approved by voters May 15, it will raise the tax levy by approximately 2.9 percent for both Town of Islip and Town of Smithtown residents. Under the $98 million budget, school officials will be looking to hire seven new teachers: 5 full-time special education teachers for its integrated co-teaching model in the elementary schools, a full-time teacher for its Languages Other Than English program and a full-time Literacy Collaborative support person to support reading instruction.
