'Fantastic Four' Co-Stars Jamie Bell And Kate Mara Are Engaged
Huffington Post - about 1 month
At least one good thing came out of the disastrous 2015 reboot of “Fantastic Four.” Cast members Jamie Bell and Kata Mara met while on the film and are now engaged, a rep for the actress confirmed to E! on Friday.  Bell, 30, and Mara, 33, have been a thing since the fall of 2015, according to People. And although Bell told E! last March that they were not planning a trip down the aisle, things must have changed because Mara posted a photo on Twitter last week where she was sporting a superhero-sized ring. #NYGiants #Steelers pic.twitter.com/ss5X7M5ko2 — Kate Mara (@katemara) January 8, 2017 No wedding date has been announced. This will be the first marriage for Ms. Mara and the second for Bell, who separated from his first wife, Evan Rachel Wood, in May 2014. Bell has a son from that marriage. -- This feed and its contents are the property of The Huffington Post, and use is subject to our terms. It may be used for pers ...

Chairman steps down after 15 years
Hastings St Leonards Observer - almost 2 years
Graham Drinkwater has stepped down as chairman of Westfield Football Club after around 15 years. A presentation was made to Drinkwater at the club’s end-of-season awards evening last weekend in recognition of his contribution to the club. He said: “I’ve stood down as chairman, but I’m not leaving - I’m still going to be about helping. With the new ground coming closer, it needs someone with more time than me.” A successor is yet to be appointed, although Drinkwater said an un-named person has expressed an interest in taking on the role. On the playing front, Jamie Bell was the big winner at the club’s presentation night, which took place at the Westfield Community Hall. The full-back picked up the first team players’ player, Emma Weightman Cup for the most improved player and Ron Cruttenden Supporters’ Cup. Matt Dadswell was named first team manager’s player, while Peter Newstead and Peter Baker received the second team manager’s and players’ player accolades respectively. Billy ...

Westies secure runners-up finish
Hastings St Leonards Observer - almost 2 years
Westfield Football Club’s second team is celebrating a top two finish. The Westies secured the runners-up spot in Macron Store Sussex County League Reserve Section (East) courtesy of a 3-1 victory at home to Worthing United on Saturday. Anything less than a win against bottom-of-the-table opposition would have meant Westfield finishing outside the top three, but goals from Steve Willis and Mike Booth gave them a handy 2-0 advantage at half time. Willis opened the scoring with a cracking header after Steve Ringwood skinned his man from a short corner and Booth punished a defensive mistake by rounding the goalkeeper for number two. After the break Booth added his second and Westfield’s third with a good header into the bottom corner following Jamie Bell’s marauding run down the left. Worthing nabbed a late consolation from the penalty spot. The result caps a fine season for Westfield, who won 12 of their 20 league fixtures and reached the semi-finals of three cup competitions. Desp ...

Geoff Cox’s DVDs: Captain Phillips, Le Week-end, Filth
The Bucks Herald - about 3 years
Tom Hanks is at the very peak of his powers in Oscar-nominated CAPTAIN PHILLIPS (12: Sony), a true-life tale that doesn’t pull any punches. Hanks steps into the shoes of Richard Phillips, the captain of an American cargo ship hijacked by pirates while on a dangerous course around the coast of Somalia in 2009. Director Paul Greengrass re-creates the shocking events with heart-pounding urgency, just as he did in his 9/11 drama United 93. There’s a sense that violence could erupt at any moment – and it often does – after the raiding party of four pirates, pressed into service by local warlords, takes the captain hostage. Greengrass skilfully conveys the growing desperation of both Phillips and lead pirate Muse (Barkhad Abdi) during the five-day crisis which follows the initial, breathtakingly staged swoop going awry. Phillips may be the one being held at gunpoint on the claustrophobic vessel, but Muse is revealed to be as much a victim as the situation plays out. Even when the US Nav ...

Ask Mick LaSalle: No hate for computer effects
San Francisco Chronicle - over 3 years
Dear Jamie Bell: I don't think animated films are hated or disregarded by critics. [...] animated films usually get a warm reception, often just for being animated. [...] a movie that's good in every other way and has good computer graphics, too, what's not to like about that? Hello J.P. Rubanis: I don't see the connection between quality and a forthcoming sequel, unless you think that the people behind "Pacific Rim" need another two hours to explore realms of artistry they couldn't completely exhaust in the first movie. [...] he'll be making horror movies: (2) Anything Else: It has taken Allen more than 30 years, but he has finally made a movie that's almost unwatchable; (3) Whatever Works: Allen's weakest film in years; (4) You Will Meet a Tall, Dark Stranger: A meandering and rather aimless movie; (5) To Rome With Love: (He) has a pet monkey, who has learned to type, and cranks out about half the screenplays. Do you feel the venue in which you see the movie can influence the ex ...
