Jason Momoa: One of the toughest actors in the business is a big softie
CNN - about 1 month
Jason Momoa is the type of guy who will talk about throwing tomahawk one minute and the next, admit he always does the dirty dishes at his wife's request. He'll talk about the beauty of naked branches in the winter while a daunting, blood-covered rubber apron -- a prop, he later explained -- hangs above his head. He'll show you his handcrafted knife collection and later confess his aversion to hunting for pure sport.

Here's Your First Look At Amber Heard As Mera, Queen Of Atlantis, In 'Justice League'
Huffington Post - 5 months
Amber Heard is ready to rule the ocean.  IGN shared the first images of the actress suited up for her role as Mera, Queen of Atlantis and wife of Aquaman, in the upcoming “Justice League” film, and she looks fierce.  Her outfit is reminiscent of scales, which makes sense given her connection to the water, and save for a few added shoulder spikes and metallic accents, it’s pretty true to the comic book illustrations. The costume was designed by Michael Wilkinson.  IGN has your exclusive first look at Amber Heard as Mera in #JusticeLeague https://t.co/JcYLJTkeEz pic.twitter.com/P4VuzijYaW — Eric Goldman (@TheEricGoldman) October 12, 2016 BREAKING: Here is our first look of #AmberHeard as Mera in #JusticeLeague pic.twitter.com/AzkeaHSaLw — Justice League (@JL_Movie) October 12, 2016 We have your very first look at Amber Heard as Mera, queen of Atlantis and wife of Aquaman, in #JusticeLeague https://t.co/O7bIxdND65 pic.twitter.com/CxFIBX7 ...

Khal Drogo's Response To Daenerys' Fiery Scene Proves She's Still The Moon Of His Life
Huffington Post - 10 months
Khal Drogo still has a lot of love for Daenerys Targaryen.  Jason Momoa, who played the mighty Dothraki warrior in Season 1, took to Instagram Monday to give his Khaleesi some applause for that badass scene where she sets the Khals' hut on fire and steps out of the flames unharmed to escape their clutches and regain her rightful position of power.  Hahahahahahahahahahahhhahaha. Every season I get at least one spine-chilling moment,” Clarke told Entertainment Weekly of the scene. “I just stand up and I go, ‘I’m hearing what you’re all saying, but funny thing, I’m going to kill you all. So Little Time, So Many Possibilities
Huffington Post - about 1 year
A brilliant idea. That's what most creatives crave. For some, great ideas come naturally. For others, they arrive on a cloud of fortuitous timing, often resting on a foundation of intuition and introspection. Once a brilliant idea is within an artist's grasp, the next question is what to do with it. Should a creative person take it in one direction? Two directions? Three or four or more? Should an artist present a brilliant idea to trusted collaborators who can join in on bringing it to fruition? Or should an individual recognize that a seemingly brilliant idea might be more than s/he can handle? These are important questions to ask. While many in the arts stress that one learns the most through one's failures, two recent artistic mishaps drew lots of attention. Produced by the African Community Theatre under Kent State University's Department of Pan-African Studies, a recent production of The Mountaintop (a controversial play by Katori Hall) featured two actors alte ...

Drogon Might Take On The Dothraki In 'Game Of Thrones' Season 6
Huffington Post - over 1 year
Daenerys Targaryen was in a bad way the last time we last saw her. Near the end of "Game of Thrones" Season 5, she was standing in a field somewhere in the middle of Essos, while a Dothraki khalasar rode around her in a formation vaguely reminiscent of that swirly pattern Matthew McConaughey saw everywhere in "True Detective." Her only apparent plan -- if you can even call it a plan -- was to drop a ring of hers on the ground, in the hopes that a friend would find it and ... do something?  So what's next for the former Khaleesi? George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire books provide little help. The show's Daenerys, played by Esquire's Sexiest Woman Alive Emilia Clarke, is at almost the exact same spot as book Daenerys at the end of A Dance With Dragons. Luckily for impatient fans, though, the set of the next season of the show has been beset with more spies than King's Landing. And a number of recent leaks from the set in Spain offer some clues about what Daenerys may be do ...

Janelle Monae's Paris Fashion Week Hair Owns Our Best Beauty List
Huffington Post - over 1 year
Paris Fashion Week Spring 2016 was filled with major moments, including the scenic airport-themed Chanel show to the mini "Game of Thrones" reunion with Emilia Clarke and Jason Momoa. But we believe Janelle Monae's many, many hairstyles stole the spotlight.  The "Yoga" singer was spotted out and about wearing different hairdos to accentuate what she described to Vogue as her "growing, evolving" style. Having worked with Monae since her debut studio album "The ArchAndroid" in 2010, celebrity hairstylist Caprice Green told The Huffington Post that the two always "start out with some sort of game plan" when discussing hairstyle for Fashion Week. "However, it doesn't always go as planned," said Green. "The clothes from the designers sort of determined the look each day." From her signature pompadour topped with a cherry-red Kristina Dragomir heart cap to a beautiful beehive adorned with Chanel accessories, Monae and her hairstylist have pushed the boundaries on what's consid ...

Many attendees stayed in the packed main hall to see Jason Momoa (Stargate: Atlantis, Game of Thrones) who is fan favorite. “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” shows off an epic Teaser Trailer
Hollywood News - almost 2 years
Hot on the heels of the new Star Wars movie flexing its muscles last week (as well as a hot new Trailer for Jurassic World earlier today), the sequel to Man of Steel also has sought to do the same. Yes, we got our first Teaser Trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice recently and at least to this humble writer, it was more than worth the wait. Besides showing off Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne, we also got to see him in costume (and hear him) as the Caped Crusader himself. His upcoming clash next year with Henry Cavill’s son of Krypton looks like a true event movie. This is no surprise to any of you, but this film is going to set up a Justice League team up for the Warner Brothers/DC slate of heroes. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice picks up where Man of Steel left off, with the citizens of Metropolis debating the merits of Superman being a god among men. This captures the attention of Batman over in Gotham City, and they cross paths, with much fighting to ensue before they get on ...

Everything You Need To Know About The Viral Protests Against A Hawaii Telescope
Huffington Post - almost 2 years
The Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) on Hawaii's Big Island is slated to be one of the world's largest, most powerful telescopes. But the $1.4-billion project is now in jeopardy in the aftermath of protests on social media and across Hawaii that brought construction to a halt. The site of the proposed project on the summit of Mauna Kea is a sacred location for many Native Hawaiians, and demonstrations have sparked broader discussions about both respect for indigenous cultures and the meaning of scientific progress. Here's everything you need to know to understand the multi-faceted issue: Mauna Kea is a dormant volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii. From seafloor to summit, it's the highest mountain in the world at 32,000 feet. Because of dry, clean air at the summit, which rises 13,796 feet above sea level, and its distance from light pollution, the telescopes on Mauna Kea are able to view the faintest galaxies. Scientists love Mauna Kea. The summit is home to the world's ...

The program agreed with the decision and had planned to film a scene where Ronon cuts off his hair for Season 5's "Broken Ties", but that change was ultimately overruled by the Sci Fi network. On the first day of filming for Season 5, his dreadlocks were reattached, but the process was too taxing. Momoa switched to using his stunt double's wig until a custom wig could be made and delivered two weeks later. When Momoa was first cast for the role, the producers had asked him to cut off the dreadlocks, but they became a trademark of his character, so he was allowed to keep them.
