John Jay Caufield is a former NHL right winger. Jay was raised in the Towamencin Township, Pennsylvania, area about a mile outside of Lansdale borough. He graduated from North Penn High School.

1985 24 Years Old Caufield attended the University of North Dakota where he played football. He later signed with the New York Rangers in 1985 and was assigned to the Toledo Goaldiggers of the IHL.
1986 25 Years Old He played 13 games with the Rangers in the 1986–87 season, accumulating 45 penalty minutes.
1987 26 Years Old The Rangers traded Caufield prior to the 1987–88 season, where he played 65 games for the Kalamazoo Wings.
