Redskins' Jay Gruden blasts team after 'frustrating' loss to Cardinals
ABC News - 3 months
GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The Washington Redskins got kicked in the gut by the Arizona Cardinals during the game and then chewed out by their own coach afterward. Redskins coach Jay Gruden scolded his players after Sunday's 31-23 loss, his voice carrying through the walls of the locker room. Washington has lost two in a row and has fallen behind Tampa Bay for the sixth and final playoff spot. "This is the hottest I've ever seen him," Redskins defensive end Chris Baker said. "He has every right to be as mad as he is because we're too good for this. If we want to get to that next step and have another chance to get to the playoffs, we have to handle our business." Gruden was upset with how the Redskins started the game. For the second consecutive game, the defense allowed the opposition to drive for an opening touchdown. On Sunday, the Cardinals marched 75 yards in 15 plays. When the offense had a chance to respond, it gained 9 yards on first down --. ...

Redskins' Jordan Reed evaluated for concussion
ABC News - 5 months
ASHBURN, Va. -- Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed was being evaluated for a concussion and missed practice Wednesday, putting his status for Sunday's game vs. the Philadelphia Eagles in question. Reed played the entire game in the Week 5 win over the Baltimore Ravens, but when he returned for work Tuesday, he complained of concussion-like symptoms. He has not yet officially been diagnosed with a concussion, however. Reed has suffered at least four concussions in college and the NFL. He missed the final four games in his rookie season of 2013 because of a concussion. And he missed two games with a concussion last season. Redskins coach Jay Gruden said the Redskins were taking the cautious approach. "I'm not considering it a concussion until we get all the results," Gruden said. "He just had some symptoms it doesn't mean it is. We just want to make sure we take all the right steps." Reed leads the Redskins with 33...

Redskins' Jay Gruden maintains 'total faith' in QB Kirk Cousins
ABC News - 5 months
ASHBURN, Va. -- Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins hasn't started the season playing close to the level he ended last year. That hasn't dented the coaching staff's confidence in him. In two games, Cousins has thrown for 693 yards, but he has just one touchdown and three interceptions, playing a crucial role in Washington's 0-2 start. Sunday, he missed open targets and threw an interception in the end zone in the fourth quarter of Washington's 27-23 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. "We have total faith that Kirk will get it done, and he will get it done," Redskins coach Jay Gruden said. "He has proven that he can be a successful quarterback in this league." And part of playing quarterback means becoming the source of headlines after tough starts. The Redskins' defense has allowed 65 points in two games, but the heavy focus is on Cousins' play. "He's a great competitor without a doubt," Gruden said. "At quarterback, sometimes if you don't. ...

NYTimes - about 1 year

Cowboys' win over Redskins muddies NFC East further
Yahoo News - about 1 year
(Reuters) - The Dallas Cowboys' 19-16 win over the Washington Redskins on Monday leaves three teams tied at the top of the NFC East -- and none of them have a winning record. Dallas are a miserable 4-8 but sit just one game behind the Redskins, Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants in the division and could yet make the playoffs. Redskins coach Jay Gruden said the poor division records did not reflect the standard of the teams, though Monday's game contained little excitement apart from the final two minutes.
