How Do You Follow Downton Abbey? You Probably Don't
Huffington Post - about 1 year
With the final Downton Abbey countdown under way, it's time to extend a little sympathy to PBS for facing this season's TV mission impossible: replacing the most popular show in network history. Actually, no one at PBS harbors any delusions about finding another single show that will captivate audiences on the same scale as the tale of the Crawley clan. As if to underscore that point, PBS is maximizing its remaining Downton time. It's rerunning Season 5 on Sunday nights through December, with Season 6 launching in the colonies on Jan. 3. It doesn't take the Dowager Countess's insight to predict that ratings should be most satisfactory. The question is what happens after March 6, when Downton sails into history, and toward that end, PBS for some time has been rolling out a new batch of shows. It has expressed optimism, doubtless tinged with hope, that one or several of those shows will keep some Downton viewers returning to PBS more often than they did in the past. Mr. ...

The 'Entourage' Cast Hung Out On Friday Night
Huffington Post - over 3 years
Fresh from hugging things out with Warner Bros., "Entourage" cast members Adrian Grenier, Jeremy Piven, Kevin Connolly, Jerry Ferrara and Emmanuelle Chriqui and writer-director Doug Ellin got together on Friday night. Co-star Kevin Dillon was not in attendance, but conspiracy theorists shouldn't get too worked up. Chriqui tweeted that Dillon was just busy with prior plans. (Fingers crossed it was related to "Viking Quest." Victory, etc.) The "Entourage" movie is expected to go into production in January of 2014.

'Entourage' Movie Could Be Announced Today
Huffington Post - over 3 years
It looks like things are just about hugged out for Team "Entourage." After a two-week stretch of juicy tabloid headlines about greed and friendship, co-star Jerry Ferrara told Wendy Williams that the movie adaptation could happen as soon as right now. "It's looking good. It's looking real good. It could be closed today," Ferrara, who played Turtle on the HBO series, said in an interview with Williams. "I could go look at my phone right now, and it's done. It's real close. We're hoping to shoot in January. Hoping." That hope echoes what co-star Kevin Connolly has been saying for a while. Speaking to TMZ on last Sunday, Connolly said the film was going to happen, and while nothing was official just yet, it looked likely to star production in January. Connolly had similar enthusiasm for the film back in April of this year. "Everything is such hard work, but that'll be like a vacation," Connolly said to HuffPost Entertainment about returning to "Entourage." "It can't happen fast enough ...

A Jock in Hollywood: The Canyon
Huffington Post - over 3 years
It's 2:15pm; I'm sipping my peanut butter protein shake and regretting my life choices. I just BOMBED my Burger King commercial audish... The casting director told me to stop 'pushing' so much with my reaction to the imaginary Transformer informing me that the 'Flame-Grilled Whopper will transform my taste buds.' Thus, I need to blow off some steam and where better to head than to LA's hottest FREE hotspot, Runyon Canyon? It's LA's equivalent to Everest's base camp: a smorgasbord of dogs, celebs, trannies, sweaty shirtless bods, gangsters, strollers, and every cliché LA has to offer -- they all flock to this one hill to knock out their 45 minutes of glitzy cardio. I'm no stranger to the hill, managing to shred there three times a week even when I lived in a shanty in North Hills. I find one, but the delicate man in his beat-up red Miata cuts me off and takes the spot ...

'The Larry Sanders Show': The 'Breaking Bad' of Sitcoms
Huffington Post - over 3 years
The week that Breaking Bad finishes, it seems fitting (or the lowest form of hack opportunism to publish an article I've had marinating for months) to reappraise a show as revolutionary, allegorical and morally nebulous in a different genre. The Larry Sanders Show, which ran on HBO for six series from 1992 to 1998, is a fictional chatshow-within-a-show that interlaces behind-the-scenes chaos with snippets of the chatshow itself. It is, in my opinion, the Great American Sitcom, a sharp, dark, complicated exploration of quintessentially American ambition, an infinite hall of cracked mirrors, a recursion between the chatshow and the sitcom as half-evolving, half-monolithic forms. Its roll call of celebrity cameos is almost preposterously impressive (Robin Williams, Billy Crystal, David Duchovny, Adam Sandler, Burt Reynolds, Jennifer Aniston, Helen Hunt, David Letterman, Jerry Seinfeld, Danny DeVito, Sharon Stone, Sarah Jessica Parker, Vince Vaughn, Jeff Goldblum, Ben Stiller, Winona ...
