Diedre A. Ware: I Love You Like Bread and Butter
Huffington Post - over 3 years
My love for bread and butter goes back to my early childhood. I was 5 years old and my younger sister, Sandra, and I were often in the care of an older next-door neighbor, Ms. Emma-- if I had to guess, she was in her late 70's or early 80's. She did not have children, but she adored all of the children in the neighborhood, as I do today. Thanks to Ms. Emma, I have always had a fondness for the much older generation. I even spent time with her on days she was not scheduled to babysit. It was our special time together and she'd share Bible stories with me. I recall one of my favorites was Jesus feeding the multitude with five barley loaves of bread and two fish. She also taught me short little ditties, recited riddles, rhymes and limericks to make me laugh, all the while enjoying a slice or two of bread and butter. Back in the day, my mother bought Blue Ribbon Sandwich Bread from the A&P, which was good. Like clockwork, every Monday, the man in the bread truc ...

Judge Approves Of The New 'Jacksun!'
Huffington Post - almost 4 years
LOS ANGELES — Jermaine Jackson has a new, brighter surname – Jacksun. A Los Angeles judge approved the change to singer's name Friday. The 58-year-old, who shared lead singing duties with his younger brother Michael in the Jackson 5, did not appear in court. He sought the name change for "artistic reasons" and says it has nothing to do with a recent rift in his family over the care of Michael Jackson's children and family matriarch Katherine Jackson. His attorney Bret D. Lewis says Jacksun is in Europe performing with his brothers and told him that he was sure it was "a sunny day in California." Lewis says he doesn't know whether Jacksun will elaborate on the creative reasons for the change.

Judge to rule on guardianship of Michael Jackson's children
LATimes - over 4 years
A Los Angeles judge is expected to name Michael Jackson's nephew, T.J. Jackson, as co-guardian of his three children Wednesday. Tito Joe "T.J." Jackson, 34, is expected to share custody of the late pop singer's children -- Prince, 15; Paris, 14; and Blanket, 10 -- with Katherine Jackson. His co-guardianship came at the request of Katherine Jackson and the children. He has helped raise the three since their father's 2009 death. Diana Ross, named in Jackson's will as a backup guardian, met with the children in early August and approves of the arrangement, their attorney said. The 82-year-old matriarch of the famous family sparked a public family feud when relatives reported her missing in July. Sheriff's deputies later closed the case after speaking with Katherine Jackson, determining she was at an Arizona spa with her children, including Janet and Jermaine Jackson. Because of her disappearance, a Los Angeles County judge stripped her of custody, transferring temporary guardian ...
