This new Metroid short film is the Nintendo epic we always wanted
Yahoo News - over 1 year
Non-profit film studio Rainfall has released a gorgeous 11-ish minute Metroid short that shows off Samus Aran as an intrepid space explorer investigating an ancient Chozo artifact. Directed by Sam Balcomb — the man behind IGN’s 2008 Legend of Zelda April fools prank, and a 2013 short film about Wonder Woman — the short film, called Metroid: The Sky Falls , is an epic ten minute journey much in the style of Alien , with a little suit-fueled Iron Man -esque action thrown in for good measure. Related:  Nicole Kidman might have a role in the Wonder Woman movie “Instead of using a modern approach, a style was developed more in tune with the themes that inspired the first Metroid game in 1986: isolation, exploration, and the wonders of deep space,” reads the YouTube description for the short. Samus Aran was played by Nerdist host Jessica Chobot in the short, and the motion capture work for the film was done by Halo 5 star America Young. The Metroid franchise is famed for being one of the ear ...

Happ N7 Day, 'Mass Effect' Fans!
MTV News - over 4 years
Hey you, you right there still arguing the merits of the ending of Mass Effect 3--BioWare's set aside a bunch of in-game events and treats for series fans to celebrate Shepherd's epic adventures across space as part of N7 Day. You can actually see some of the lovely things BioWare has planned today (as well as a much nicer, larger version of the poster above) on their site. As for me, I'd like to tell you about how Mass Effect went from a clunky sci-fi RPG, to one of the most gripping and gritty games of 2010, to a challenging, not-quite-settled conclusion this year. I didn't care for the first Mass Effect. In fact, I think after about 10 hours, I was pretty sure I hated it. While I appreciated some of the technical prowess that went into the game, and BioWare's desire to visually homage some of the high-contrast, cheapie sci-fi movies of the 80's like Battle Beyond the Stars, it simply didn't gel with me. Shepherd's journey as a Spectre, combating the Geth and attempting to ...

G4 Cancels 'Attack Of The Show'
Huffington Post - over 4 years
"Attack Of The Show!" has been cancelled. According to TV Guide, two of G4's most popular shows will not be returning after December with "X-Play" being nixed as well. The network, which is undergoing a makeover, is sad to see both shows go. "'Attack of the Show' and 'X-Play' have been important for G4, and we want to acknowledge the creative people who have helped inspire and showcase the phenomenon of gamer culture," G4 Media general manager Adam Stotsky said. "With more than 3,000 episodes aired between them, we have more than enough great material to honor these innovators and their amazing contributions as we bring both shows to a close." According to a press release, the network is being rebranded and will "move into a more upscale, sophisticated guy TV space" with the possibility of being named "G4Men." "Attack Of The Show!" hosted by Candace Bailey and Sara Underwood, focuses on pop culture and new technology reviews. The show premiered in 2005. Meanw ...
