Film About Legendary Session Musicians Coming to Bridge Street

The Wrecking Crew film has been in the can since 2008, when it premiered at the South by Southwest film festival. It's the story of the legendary Los Angeles session musicians who played, uncredited, on hundreds of hits by artists including The Beach Boys, The Monkees, Simon & Garfunkel and the Mamas and the Papas. Produced by Denny Tedesco (son of Wrecking Crew guitarist Tommy Tedesco, who died of cancer in 1997), the film is being held up over music clearances — the 132 song fragments that appear in the film. Until he raises the money to secure these rights, Tedesco is in fundraising mode, bringing the film to festivals and screenings while he negotiates the labyrinth of labels and publishers who control the songs. These showings are typically in big cities where the big dollars are found, but on Sunday, the film comes to Bridge Street Live in Collinsville for a 2 p.m. screening.
